I have to say those who are proud of the top left quandrant wouldn't be too happy with who's listed in their reading list under that quandrant:

Fidel Castro
Vladimir Lenin
Mao Tse Tung

hmmmm, they could've found a few more benign folks don't you think?

What books would you recommend instead?

Feel free to add me to your chart.

My numbers are in my sig, and its the average of my last three scores so outliers are downplayed a little.

My Quadrant is better...

scoffs at Al and WMS's quadrant of populist evil (al appears to be my mirror)...

and my quadrant would probably be the Liberal Dems...at least my end of it. (my octant?)

Pfft. You're in the soulless quadrant of libertarianism where they eat babies and the like. ;-P

I don't have a mirror. I don't have a reflection. I'm a vampire. ;-)

Harry is reasonably close.

BTW, being on lines rules Smiley.

I'm on a line.  It makes having a mirror a bit of a challenge.

Kiki I like how you get three different avatar colors here on the Forum in that quadrant, reflective of the U.S. political situation.

We'd all be in Labour in the U.K., wouldn't we? Wink

Probably :-)

And as for my last post before I go to work:

Would Labour be happy with all of us in this quadrant? If so, which faction of Labour (details are always appreciated, since I don't know much more than Old and New Labour) would we go into?

Most Labour voters would fit into that quadrant. As far as Party factions go... there are a hell of a lot of them. I think you'd fit best into one of the more moderate Christian Socialist factions.

Thanks for the response...I've wondered about that. Any links to the more moderate Christian Socialists?

I was wondering if you would ask about that. As you can see in my post above, I think you and others in your quandrant would be a little offended by the not very wide selection of examples they chose to represent it.

Harry isn't reasonably close; have about the same authoritarian values, both positive.  I'm unluckly enough not to have a nemeses.

Probably a majority of Labour M.P's (and almost all of the Cabinet in fact) identify themselves as Christian Socialists, so there's a huge variation in political viewpoints... (everything from far left to Blair himself)

One of the annoying things about U.K politics is that use of the internet hasn't had anything near the effect it has in the U.S... I'll find some more sits out in a bit... in the meantime...

www.labour.org.uk (official party site, has links to affliated Unions and Organisations etc)
www.christiansocialist.org.uk (the main christian socialist organisation. Membership extremely varied. Tends to be somewhat pacifist (note: genuinely pacifist not the whole trendy "anti-war" thing. There's a difference) although not all the members are. Nice people as a rule)
www.frankfield.co.uk (the only M.P's adress I can remember right now... he's an independent minded old git and one of my favourite M.P's)

You think it is difficult to talk about British politics online?

My Mark Latham poll can only get two voters on a forum dedicated to politics, in an area dedicated to international stuff. Then you have about 80 UK seat-by-seat threads which all have onnes of interest.

*sobs* nobody cares about Australia Sad

He's on the positive side of the Y Axis (maybe it's the X Axis) on the graph.  So am I.

Economic Left/Right: 1.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.36

I have become more conservative economicilly and a little more liberal socially.

The most important change what I did intentionally was.

"It's a sad reflection on our society that something as basic as drinking water is now a bottled, branded consumer product."

Strongly agree to disagree

I reconsidered it philosophically. I don't know why, but I have always thought that it would mean a society where all drinking water is bottled, which is not obviously an idea of the question.

A suggestion perhaps if we were to put some comparison figures to see who we match up against in the real world

You are not on the graph.

Neither are jFRAUD or Moldie.  They might be mirrors of each other.

I've taken note of various posters political compass scores and mapped them out. I've also colored the dots according to party identification (no surprises guessing which is which). They're almost like out "voting records".

I apologise to those whose scores are wrong due to human error or the fact your scores have changed.

enjoy!

Lets see an update.
