Well I have one daughter, and we only picked one name for her before she was born, so that's the one she has.

My preferred girl name is Hazel, after my paternal grandmother, who was adored by all.  However, if it's still "available" when it comes time for me to have kids, and if my husband likes the name, I'd consider checking with any living descendants of hers (except for my dad's brother, if he's still alive, whose opinion doesn't particularly matter to me) to make sure it's "okay".  I also like Harriet, Eleanor, and Nora.

Boy names?  I still have no idea.  Probably "Patrick" thrown in as a middle name as a nod to my brother and his future wife.  William?  Asher?  Theodore?

I'd probably name my children after older family members or close friends. That puts Lisa, Maya, Judith, Lena, and Joseph in the running, in roughly descending order of how much thought I've given them.

It's unlikely I'll ever have kids, but if I did, I'd probably try to give them names with the characteristics I like about my own name.

My name is Paul.  I like the fact that I've made it through life without being surrounded by Pauls.  (For example, I graduated from high school in a class of 200, and there was never another Paul in my class.)  While uncommon, it somehow also manages to be a perfectly normal name--no one ever asks how to spell it.  And it's not a name associated with a particular age--it's not a Donald, Linda, Brandon, or Tiffany.

Anyhow, my theoretical kids' names.

Boys:
1.  Adam
2.  Andrew
3.  Nathaniel/Nate
4.  Noah--if it weren't so popular
5.  Timothy

Girls:
1.  Bridget
2.  Meredith
3.  Robin--even if it does remind me of How I Met Your Mother
4.  Catherine
5.  Celia--because I'm drawing a blank
