oh good. I know I can avoid this now: J.J. Abrams is like Spielberg without the panache or anything interesting.

At least JJ Abrams isn't George Lucas.

Good list of newcomers, but I'm a bit bummed by no Lando.

I'm actually more interested now than I was before (Which was not at all).

Oscar Isaac and Max von Sydow are amazing actors, and anyone who doesn't know who John Boyega is should watch Attack the Block which is AMAZING.

As Bill Maher said, the only thing Han Solo is smuggling these days is generic Lipitor from Canada.

Max von Sydow alone makes me want to see this. I wish the Original Trilogy characters were not in it, though. One of the appealing things about a galaxy-wide setting for worldbuilding is that you can tell a million stories without using the same characters twice. I hate that Lucas felt the need to shoehorn Anakin as C-3POs maker, for ewample, or have Yoda and Chewbacca meet. It smacks of fanservice at the expense of exploring the setting.

Why is Hamill coming? Doesn't he hate Star Wars?

He's 71.  Why wouldn't he do it?

It's not like Star Wars films have a lot of fast-paced/athletic fight scenes (unless you're a Jedi I guess). He'll mostly just be sitting down or walking or at most crouching while pretending to shoot a blaster.

Here's hoping Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan Kenobi. He, Liam Neeson, and Sam Jackson at least made the prequels enjoyable for their scenes.

As a force ghost, like how they went back and edited him into ROTJ.

But why??  The only people who knew Obi-wan as a young man are all dead now.

Because Alec Guinness isn't available to shoot new scenes if they want Obi-Wan's ghost in a scene.

I'd like to be excited, but I'm still very much skeptical. J.J. Abrams's stuff is hit-and-miss to me.

Does the order mean John Boyenga is going to be the main character?

Ugh, you people keep describing this retarded idea in such a matter-of-fact, it's-possible-therefore-they-should-do-it way.

"Luke, it's me, Obi-wan."
"Hi Obi-wan, still rocking that force ghost look, huh?  But wait, you're not Obi-wan.  He was way older than you."
"Yeah I know, but now I'm a lot younger."
"But why?"
"Because reasons, that's why."

Me and Jedi didn't say they should do it, just how they could do it after you asked how.

Actually, young Obi-Wan isn't the prequel character I think they should have show up.  I want Jar-Jar Binks, or more specifically, his corpse.

Would just like someone to go kill Disney, give the franchise back to the people who have been running it for the last many years LFL and let the authors, management and Dark Horse continue to make the franchise. Basically make the EU 100% cannon and build off of that. Theatrical release of the Thrawn Trilogy.

I wonder how it will compare to the prequals, full Lucas control vs. no Lucas at all.

Why is Hamill coming? Doesn't he hate Star Wars?
He wanted to be involved in the Family Guy Star Wars episodes, but was offended by Han/Peter's line "I'm the only actor whose career wasn't destroyed by this movie." So of course he doesn't.
