Think we all knew this, but fools like Donald Rumsfeld decided to keep the talking point going anyways.

Cheney and Rummy claimed more often that other intelligence was gained from the enhanced techniques.......who knows if it's true.  We don't use those methods any more - Wink Wink nod nod.

But isn't their credibility totally shattered?

Maybe not. We know 1 millionth percent of what goes on in the CIA, NSA, FBI and the rest of the alphabet soup. They might be exaggerating but the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

We needed a story to confirm that?  OK, thanks, I guess.  Add this one to the list of commonly known 'interpretations' of the Bush administration's policies circa 2005/2006 that has been needlessly proven correct.  I mean, it's too late to change anyone's mind - if you were okay with torture in 2005, why wouldn't you be okay with it now?

I think there was an investigation like this done shortly after Bin Laden was killed and the conclusion was the same.  Still, it's never bad to have another "I told you so" moment. Tongue

Speaking of Cheney, he has no regrets.  No surprises there, of course.

Why should he?  It may not have led to Bin Laden but I'm sure it helped with other targets.

I'm fairly certain this was revealed in 2011.

Speaking of Cheney, he has no regrets.  No surprises there, of course.

Why should he?  It may not have led to Bin Laden but I'm sure it helped with other targets.

Or he's a stubborn SOB who doesn't ever want to admit that he was ever wrong on anything ever, just like Rumsfeld.

There are diminishing returns to this sort of thing, the problem is not that it doesn't yield any information but that it can yield any information, including misinformation or even lies regardless of the knowledge of the detainee, particularly once you start doing it close to 200 times.

Well...one might think being a war criminal might cause one to have certain regrets. Not only speaking of the waterboarding torture enhanced interrogation techniques.
