CRANBERRY FOR GOVERNOR

Dear people of the Pacific,

I hereby declare my intention to run for reelection as Pacific Governor, in the Election later that month. I have been able to serve as Governor for a month now, and if you give me your trust once again, I swear to do all for the good (or bad) of our region.

I think a good way to open my campaign is a good old Town Hall, so go on, ask away.

CRANBERRY FOR GOVERNOR

PRESS RELEASE - GOVERNOR CRANBERRY'S VISIONS

  • ENVIRONMENT: If there is one thing I am proud of in my tenure as public servant in the Pacific, then this is the Green Pacific Act, a bill that makes the Pacific one of the areas with the highest share of energy won from renewable, "green", sources, in the world. On this very issue, the Pacific stands as a shining example for the other regions of Atlasia. Yet our work on this topic is not done. With the Second Stimulus, we passed effective legislature enhancing our environmental sustainability and reducing our ecological footprint, and more acts to reach this same goal will follow, from a moratorium on plastic bags and their replacement by either paper bags or bags of organic, putrescible material not on the base of oil, to a containment and eventually a as far as possible supression of the garbage patch in our oceans.
  • ACTIVITY AND COMPETITIVENESS - ATTENTION THROUGH INNOVATION: The two most pressing and immediate issues in the Pacific now are most certainly activity and competitiveness. Any officeholder in our region must absolutely commit oneself to tackle this issue, through personal activity, and through sponsoring of or advocating for legislation that may evoke activity and commitment. One possible solution to increase competitiveness may have been a merge with the Midwest, yet this was rejected by the Pacific voters. Therefore, we in the Pacific ourselves, must see what can be done to increase activity and competitiveness. One way to solve this problem, a way that has worked in the past, and certainly will work now, is to create something new, something innovative. Together with the new council, I plan to pass a fundamental restructuring of our government. Instead of our current, three-member council, the new plan would have two levels of government. The Council, possibly reduced to two members, with either the Governor or the Justice having the tie breaking vote should such be neccessary, shall be set alongside the Estates General. The Estates General, the complete assembly of every Pacifician, shall be used to introduce new bills, debate with the Councillors over legislation, and signalize the elected officeholders one's own opinion. The Estates General may either be presided by the Governor, or an elected President of the Estates General.
Together with the reform of our adiminstration will come a reform of our partisan system. The roles of the national parties shall be taken over by Caucuses in the Estates General. Caucuses shall be led like national parties, and may either affiliate themselves completely with a national party, or leave that choice upon its members.

Endorsed (sane), as a citizen of the Pacific, former crisis manager, Senator and most relevantly a former Governor Tongue. Everything I've learned from my time in the Pacific in all manner of offices convinces me that you're the person the region needs right now. Keep up the good work - it's not always easy governing a region that has its activity problems, but it's a task that can, just occasionally, give back what you put into it.

I'm not sure if a Federalist will run for the seat (in which my endorsement is reserved for him), but I can say without a doubt that you've been a great Governor in pretty tough times, and I really appreciate all the work you are currently doing for the region as well. Best of luck, Governor!
