Statement from the Giuliani Campaign

Vice President Cheney, a great American and good friend of Mayor Giuliani, is in the prayers of all at the campaign. Our prayers are offered to him and his family for a speedy recovery. Mayor Giuliani called the Vice President as the news broke and spoke to Mrs. Lynn Cheney on the Vice President's condition. For his own benefit, the Mayor has released the Vice President from any obligations he had to the campaign as a surrogate and fundraiser.

The Clinton, campaign expresses the minimalist sympathy possible for Vice-President Cheney and family, and implores him to step down as Vice-President, so that the stress of the job does not kill him.

Statement from John Edwards
Though we've had our political differences, I respect Vice President Cheney's service to our nation. I'm glad to hear that he is expected to make a full recovery, and - as someone who's had to take some time off politics due to my own health issues - I wish him the best and will be praying for a speedy recovery.

Speech in Montevideo, Minnesota (With Municipal Intendant (Mayor) of Montevideo, Uruguay, Mariano Arana,)

The Sister Cites International Program, Started under Dwight Eisenhower, has been a boon for American Cities and for Cities across the world, providing cultural enhancement, knowledge of other places that Americans just wouldn't get otherwise, and giving knowledge of parts of America that citizens of the rest of the world would not get otherwise. This municipality, is twinned with the Capital of Uraguay, Montevideo in a partnership that wil. Senator Clinton, if elected President will push for Federal Grants to Sister Cities International, and will push for all localities with 10,000 or more inhabitants to reach a "twinning" agreement, either within the United States or outside the country. Now since I understand Intendent Arana is here to celebrate your being named a finalist for the All-American City award by the National Civic League, so I will not get in your way any further.

Speech in Savannah, Illinois

One of NASA's former Space Shuttle pilots, Dale Gardner, grew up here. Like so many Space Shuttle pilots in the 1980's he became upset with the tediousness of going to projects such as the Mir space station, and the International Space Station. He watched in horror during the disasters that befell the Space Shuttles Challenger and Columbia, and he wondered why our Space Program couldn't be as great as it once was, when John F. Kennedy said that we get to the moon by 1970, and we made it there. With Senator Clinton, we will return our Space Program to its former glory. We fix the problems plaguing our space shuttles. We will return to the Moon, and we will make our way to Mars, the new challenge for a new Century and Millennium!

OOC: That beauty and the beast cast list is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. But realistically, no way could you get all of those people to put on Beauty and the Beast for a political fundraiser.

OOC: Most fundraisers pretty much involve paying $50,000 dollars to eat dinner at a rich guys house while a candidate gives a stump speech about why he needs money.

Vice President Dick Cheney To Resign

Vice President Dick Cheney appeared to be on the mend, but in the overnight hours the Vice President's health took an immediate turn for the worse and it was announced that Dick Cheney would be resigning the office of Vice President of the United States effective immediately. A spokesmen for the Vice President, revealed Cheney had sent a letter to President Bush, formally resign. He went onto say that both he and the President were prepared for such an event and that Vice President Cheney had originally drafted a letter of resignation to be given to the President in the event of his incapacitation. This is Cheney's fifth heart attack and second within the last three years. No word yet over whom President Bush will nominate to succeed the Vice President.

BREAKING NEWS: Pres. Bush Addresses The Nation

It would be so interesting, though, if Bush nominated George Allen or Rudy Giuliani.............

Hillary Surrogate Schedule D

Senator Debbie Stabenow

February 25, 2004

Meet Voters in Elgin, Ohio

Speech in Van Wert, Ohio

Michigan, whose Primary Senator Clinton won, and Ohio which is one the states voting on March 2, are very similar states. Each have strong union populations, each have been politically divided for years, and has a long suffering sports history, between Cleveland Sports teams, which have won a Professional Title since the Browns of old won in 1964, and the Detroit Lions, which despite winning four titles in the early days of the NFL, have not won it all since 1957, and along with the Browns are the eldest team to not play in a Super Bowl. Sometimes I wonder, if all our states have to separate us is our preferences in College Athletics, be it the Michigan Wolverines, the Michigan State Spartans, The Nittany Lions of Penn State, The Ohio Bobcats, The Cincinnati Bearcats, and of course The Ohio State Buckeyes. Each of these teams has had strong success in the past, and make our states who we are. And just like a rivalry in sports, no matter how bitter things get within the Democratic Party, at the end of the day, we respect one another for the roles they play.

It's been a long hard slog since the 1970's for most of this region, and the Clinton Campaign is sorry to say that it's unlikely that your prior jobs will return, as the world becomes more and more automated. But what we can say is that we will spare no effort to make you able to become a functioning worker in the hyper-technology era, a person who can go from an assembly line to repairing microchips in a computer, and we will spare no expense to be able to build Ohio from solely manufacturing, to a mixture of industries.

GARY-MENTUM - New Endorsers:

Governor Jim Douglas (R-VT)
It is clear to me that there is one candidate that the Republican party needs right now, one to bring a real difference to democrats this fall. There is one candidate that is truly tested, and is ready to lead, that candidate is Governor Gary Johnson, a true Republican.
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in Vermont, campaign manager for Vermont)

Congressman Peter Blute (R-MA)
Governor Johnson is a man who represents the people, and I am proud to endorse him. His experience as Governor is proof of his leadership, and that is what we the American people need right now. Let's stick together and support the candidate that can bring a true difference to the democrats in November, and vote Gary Johnson!
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in Massachusetts)

Congressman Peter Torkildsen (R-MA)
I am proud to to join Governor Weld and Congressman Blute in endorsing Gary Johnson for president. He is the man that knows what Americans need, and ready to take on the tough issues. He will fight for We The People, not the lobbyists and big money! So let's join Gary Johnson in his fight to LIVE FREE!
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in Massachusetts)

Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH)
All the time I've been in congress I have fought for the people of my district, now there is a candidate for president who represents the American People, and it ain't Hillary Clinton! Governor Gary Johnson is the candidate that will as president fight for the American People, and he is who we need in the White House!
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in Ohio, Campaign manager for Ohio)

Congresswoman Mary Bono (R-CA)
Governor Johnson has always been fighting for Liberty in anyway he can, and now he's running for President. I am proud to stand beside him and endorse him for president! He has the credentials and ability to win this November, and is always on the side of the people he represents. Let's support Gary Johnson!
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in California)

Congressman Christopher Cox (R-MN)
Governor Gary Johnson is a man we need as president, he doesn't play political games, he supports the people, not the money. He's someone we can trust, and the man to beat the democrats this fall.
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in Minnesota)

Senator Frank Murkowski (R-AK)
We have had a tough choice in this race for president, we have three candidates that each make a good case. However, there is one that makes the best case, and after his win in Idaho, he has proven he's is more than just a contender. He has the experience to be President, the convictions to be President, and most importantly, he knows that he serves the American people. So I am supporting Gary Johnson in this race for President, he is ready to serve the American people.
(Feb. 25-Mar. 2: Barnstorming and GOTV in Alaska, campaign manager for Alaska)

Gary Johnson Campaign Statement:
The Johnson campaign offers its condolences to the Cheney family during this time, and hopes that the Vice-President will make a full recovery. And also wishes the President well in deciding on a new Vice-President, and hopes he makes a choice that benefits the American People.

We're painfully aware of our mortality on this earth as Vice-President Cheney's situation has reminded us. We wish President Bush luck in searching for a Vice-President, and wish to remind him that Senator Clinton is running for President and has no desire to give it up to be Vice-President for such a short time.

GOTV Strategy and Talking Points

GOTV Strategy

Pictured: Chief of Staff and Campaign Co-Chairman Andy Card, organizing the large Allen Super Tuesday operations

In what many consider the last chance for the Allen Campaign, they are leaving little to chance. Allen and Bush Chief of Staff Andy Card, along with Karen Hughes, finds himself very busy. He's heading where money goes for ads, who takes the lead in these states, and what the strategy is. He's broken it down to his staff like this:

- California is led by Congressman Dan Lungren and Congressman Darrell Issa, both experienced congressmen and both run in statewide races (Lungren has won two races). However, they aren't star studded talent, so instead the focus is strategy. Instead of just running in all of California and hoping for the best, The Allen GOTV is aiming at running up large margins in Southern California, particularly at growing his lead in the very Republican San Diego. The Allen Campaign plans a very large ad buy in Southern California markets, but also a large one throughout the state. Southern California will feel more of the anti-Giuliani ads, while northern will feel more of the positive "Plan for Growth" ad.

- Minnesota is led by Congressman Gil Gutknecht, a survivor in a centrist district. The strategy here is similar to the Wisconsin strategy - run up margins in rural and religious areas who are more socially conservative, while holding on to cities like Rochester and St. Cloud. The negative Giuliani ads will be run heavily here in order to reduce the advantage Giuliani has with endorsements. In addition, busing from churchs will be provided, as well as door to door volunteers.

- Ohio is led by Congressman John Kasich, a former Presidential candidate with statewide aspirations. Those aspirations have fueled his knowledge of the state, and the aim of the Allen Campaign is at working class families who vote Republican. Campaign literature will include prominently Allen's minimum wage plan and plan for job growth. Ohio is an area where Allen going positive is a better direction, and as a result, the large ad buy in the state will be mostly of "Plan for Growth". The anti-Giuliani ad will still be in play, but not as much.

- Maryland is led by Former Delaware Governor Pierre S. DuPont. This may be confusing, but DuPont is close with a lot of wealthy Maryland millionaires, and as a result, knows how the state Republican Party functions. The Maryland state party, in spite of it's tough times, is conservative like the rest of the Republican Parties, and therefore the medium sized ad buy puts both ads in play. Some campaign literature and increased pay for campaign employees specifically involved with GOTV, but this area will mostly be an ad war zone.

- In Georgia and New England, the Allen Campaign is making a small ad buy. Georgia is clearly an Allen state, and the leader of the Georgia GOTV, Zell Miller, is just testing the state. Recently, Democrats like him have been moving over to the Republican Party, and the experiment is how much grassroots support can show up, and the surrogates are mostly out there just getting people excited. As for New England, led by Andy Card, the mission is to lower margins, and that is by running ads with a small buy, and pushing people out there in serious way. Governor Craig Benson, even with a close race for Governor still considered a talent, is pushing voters in the New York area ad buy to get out there. Vito Fossella, a New York congressman, is making a play within the New York City ad buying area in Connecticut. The hope is Connecticut will be more playable by the end.

In all states, the strategy continues to be the same - working class voters, rural voters, aim at social conservatives who will turn out heavier if Allen is the nominee than if Giuliani is the nominee. Getting those voters to turn out in bigger numbers is key to the campaign, as well as voters who identify as "Conservative" or "Very Conservative" in polling and running up those margins.

Talking Points

"I've noticed a pattern in the administration, and I think the voters would like to hear about it. I know you all disagree with the press about the President's performance, well, we do too. And we have seen the actions of this President and we see we need someone like him. We, the cabinet, as the centerpiece around President Bush, has endorsed Allen for President. Besides Dick Cheney, and I wish him well in all of his future endeavors, the administration has almost fully stood behind Senator Allen. Inspite of what campaign opponents like you to think, Senator Allen is serious candidate, with serious plans that very seriously put this country on the right track. And I hope you all, from my home state of Ohio, give him a shot."

Greetings everyone,

I know we're all a bit disappointed about Idaho. Not to worry, we can't fret about the past too much. Idaho, Utah, Hawaii, all distractions from the real prize: Super Tuesday. When the press comes to us, we have to be on full force, and try to talk about the following things, if you can:

- Evangelical voters. These voters are the key to an Allen Victory. More of these people would vote for Allen or go home. Make that point clear. These people aren't people who would support someone who doesn't want traditional marriage, period.

- Giuliani's debate comments. Conservatives are still the centerpiece of this campaign, we have a lead by 17 among them but not big enough. Try to make it clear that Giuliani is not one of us, and is, instead, part of the problem. Allen is part of the solution.

- The administration's support. Besides Dick Cheney, who has sadly resigned, the administration has very clearly backed our campaign. The President is not quite so popular with the American public, but among our party, he's extremely popular. Use him as an edge to nudge Giuliani with.

- Gary Johnson. Now, unlike Giuliani, his threat is not as serious. However, if ever asked about him, be light. Treat it as sort of a joke. That lowers his credibility in the eyes of the public, and that's all we need to do at this point. If gets more serious we will revisit this, but currently, we don't need to.

- Allen's plan for growth. Giuliani's people are trying to paint him as not serious, an extremist, and a fool. Don't let them get away with it! Talk about Allen's serious plan for growth. This should shut them up if it gets to this line of questioning. If that doesn't, then his minimum wage plan will.

Most importantly, make our campaign look good, don't make mistakes, and let's get the people riled up.

Best Wishes to All,
Karen Hughes

I don't think this is a good idea. Everyone else has planned their schedules and timing around the round ending tomorrow night. I think it is important to keep moving the game along and not dragging out each round.
