http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/05/world/meast/gulf-qatar-ambassadors/

It looks like the reason was Qatar's support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, which Saudi Arabia at least, confirmed today by Naming the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group.

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/saudi-arabia-names-brotherhood-terrorist-group-22815787

Joining the Muslim Brotherhood on the terrorist groups are Al-Qaeda (especially in Yemen and Iraq) the Al-Nusra Front, Hezbollah, and the Yemeni Hawthis. Penalties will range from five to thirty years in prison for those who join them or support them.

Qatar's emir is a 33 year old who is very sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood. He's generally viewed as being a lot more devout and socially conservative than his father.

God I hope 2022 can still be reversed.

But they've already invested so much capital and slave labor into building their stadia.

But they've already invested so much capital and slave labor into building their stadia.

Pulling out now and giving it to a qualified host (the USA or Australia, presumably) would literally save hundreds, perhaps thousands, of lives. It won't happen, of course.

In Qatar there is a law saying you can't make workers work in temperatures above 44 celsius, so amazingly enough it never "officially" goes above 44 C. - It might be 43.8 C at 7 am in the moring, and then never "officially" rises for the rest of the day...

Lots of foreign workers die in Qatar, the 2022 decision is really hard to understand, unless FIFA is some bribe driven corrupt organization like the IOC.... oh wait never mind my last comment....
