First full county in in MS: Quitman.

Cochran won it 326-173 this time and only won it 215-129 last time around.

Quitman is a black belt delta county, so it looks like Cochran managed to get the turnout a little higher there while carrying it would roughly the same percentage.
Coahoma County is in now, too, and Cochran took it with 75.3%.

Last time around he took it with 66.7%
And that was in Coahoma County?

Yes.

34% in now in MS, Cochran ahead of McDaniel, but just 53-47. This is just like IL/PA, folks - the most democratic votes come in first. McDaniel has plenty of time to catch up.

Yup no Jones yet. Or Rankin or DeSoto either. Cochran's looking better so far, but those three are certainly some of the places to watch. Brace ourselves for the 10,000 vote dagger when Jones reports.

CO is all mail, so they count quickly.
Just looked it up; they passed it last year.  But why did over half the vote from CO come in within half an hour in 2012?

McDaniel is way ahead in the surrounding counties, so this will probably get tighter, in which case, my stomach will also.

I would be cautious of calling it for Cochran. Its now 53-47, and there's still McDaniel-friendly territory to report.

McDaniel also outperformed his old margin in Amite County from last time. It looks like the strong areas of both campaigns simply got stronger. Hopefully the Free State of Jones doesn't have anyone left who didn't vote last time.

Me too, though Rankin County just started reporting, and Cochran leads there with about 52%.

Early results out of Rankin looking better than last time for Cochran; early results out of DeSoto looking better for McDaniel.

AP: Lankford wins outright. Feel bad for Shannon, but he's young enough for a comeback.

Looks like McDaniel is flipping Hancock County; only 6 precincts left and he's up by 6.
