My Picks- (Of who I think actually will win)

Short Film- Live Action- The Voorman Problem

Foreign Language Film- Omar (Call me crazy, but I think the Academy will fall in love with the relatively anti-Israel film)

Visual Effects- Star Trek Into Darkness (How does a movie with phaser beams not win a visual effects award?)

Writing- Original Screen Play- Dallas Buyers Club

Writing- Adapted Screenplay- Philomena

Short Film- animated- Room on the Broom (?)

Sound Mixing- The Hobbit; Desolation of Smaug

Sound Editing- The Hobbit; Desolation of Smaug

Production Design- The Great Gatsby

Music- Original Song- "Let It Go"(Frozen)

Music- Original Score- Saving Mr. Banks

Makeup and Hairstyling- Jackass Presents; Bad Grandpa

Documentary/Short Subject- Karama Has no Walls

Documentary/Feature- The Square

Costume Design- The Great Gatsby

Cinematography- Gravity

Animated Feature- The Wind Rises (The Academy's been known to give out Oscar's to good, but not great films as lifetime achivement awards... assuming Hayao Miyazaki truly is retiring, than this could be that kind of film)

Director- Martin Scorcese (Wolf of Wall Street)

Best Supporting Actor- Jonah Hill (Wolf of Wall Street)

Best Supporting Actress- Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave)

Best Leading Actress- Judi Dench (Philomena)

Best Leading Actor- Leonardo DiCaprio (Wolf of Wall Street) (Although I suspect the Academy has a grudge against him for whatever reason)

Best Picture- Wolf of Wall Street

They finally gave it to him for The Departed, which I thought was just an above average police thriller, something that might have been made in the '90s, but I'm certainly rooting for Martin Scorsese. Sadly, his best work was passed over.

I will guess that Gravity will do well. Don't really know otherwise; there have been so many movies in the history that have been nominated for 10 awards and walked away with 0 or 1 or some minor awards, and other that have been nominated for a lot and won a lot.

Haha, yeah. And I'm just old enough to remember when costume / historical dramas were not only made but had a reasonable shot to win! Times have changed, yup.

Leto wins best supporting actor. No surprise there (although Fassbender definitely deserved it more IMO).

It's a joke that Her wasn't nominated for Costumes. Hopefully it wins for production design at least.

That Academy "young filmmakers" thing with 6 different races of students was a little too on the nose with the diversity try.

I've said it before, and I will say it again: If Llewlyn Davis doesn't win an award, it will show how godawful and tasteless Hollywood really is.

I, in all honesty, never watched it and was never into it. So, please, stop with the intentional mis-spellings, I have a proven record of not typing like a 12-year old girl, thank you very much.

The oddsmakers say it will be Lupita Nyong'o. It's not close either.

They do... but I think it is very close. They're too focused on the fact that Lawrence won last year... but if you ask Christoph Waltz, the GG+BAFTA combo is very potent.

I'm picking Lawrence, but it'll be a tiny number of votes each way.

Snowstalker, I'm surprised you don't find The Wind Rises politically disconcerting. (Or do you, and you just think that its other merits outweigh that?)

Lupita slays the Lawrence dragon. Good for her. She deserved it.

Also makes 12 Years a Slave look even more inevitable as far as Best Picture is concerned.
