I'm delighted with the entries so far! I'll be posting a poll soon so get in any more nominations you can.

Speaking of which, this ditty by Linkin Park, the adolescent angst anthem "One Step Closer," makes my right eyelid twitch and I hereby nominate it for consideration. Painfully bland juvenile repetitive lyrics alone, let alone the silly musical accompaniment, and just a long personal tradition of hating Linkin Park justify it to me.

Also - no Nickleback?

I think Nickelback definitively belongs on the list, though I am not sure which title to nominate (they all sound quite similar anyway).

Nickelback songs are all terrible, but none are terrible enough to warrant nomination IMO. They're just ungodly boring.

Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith.  Awful tune, awful theme, and the lyrics sound like they were written by a fifth-grader.  Plus, Ted Nugent makes a cameo in the music video.
That should definitely be considered!

I don't really think we should be considering songs the artist themselves acknowledges are terrible - 'worst song ever' shouldn't be bestowed on a song that's intentionally shooting for the title.

1)
Creed - With Arms Wide Open

2)
The Offspring - Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)

Creed is worse than Nickelback. Nickelback at the very least doesn't think they are the reincarnation of Christ.

Personally I hate the song Uprising by Muse, but I seem to be alone in that corner so I won't nominate it.

The second one is clearly a novelty song.

You people don't listen to nearly enough music. There are certainly worse songs than any of the things nominated.

Life is short, the goal should be to listen to as little bad music as possible.  Though the internet certainly makes listening to more bad music (and more good music) possible.

I'm going to nominate "What does the Fox Say?", thst song is just utter garbage, and the worst part is, IT'S NOT FUNNY! It just sounds like someone is taking a dump in your ear.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofNR_WkoCE&feature=kp

Are you 11?
What would suggest so?

That's exactly how my 11-year-old brother feels about it.

The point about that song... is that it's a comedy song, it was never, ever supposed to be taken seriously.
But that doesn't give it a free pass to be either unfunny or ear-bleedingly bad.

Seriously, most of the songs nominated here at least have a beat.

Här kommar Gösta by Arthur Spelman and the Dong, winner of the Swedish Spelmanspris (sort of a grammy) in 1972, when all the Swedish bands that could acutally play were boycotting that event because they were oh so leftist and it was an awful commercialized and capitalist event.

Besides being really bad music the lyrics are ridiculous without being funny. Its a social realistic text where poor Gösta returns from hard work in the woods and asks if there is any coffee?, his wife then tells him that there is no coffee and we hear that "Gösta leaves again". End of story!

I have only heard it once, but as I remember it the story is simply repeated three times.

I have a hard time thinking of any song I despise more than "I Want Candy". It'd be a pretty easy song to avoid were it not for the fact that advertisers seems to like to use it a lot. I'm sure it's known well enough to not have to dignify it with a link.

No T-Pain at all? I can't think of anything specific, but T-Pain is responsible for auto-tune's prominence.

Also, just about anything on this list:

I actually think that Autotune can be used to a singer's advantage, hell, even T-Pain can make a good song, well, maybe not good, but fun.

If you want an angst anthem, see Untitled by Simple Plan or Crawling by Linkin Park.

I'd say anything off of Sid Vicious' Sid Sings.

I checked out the German Top 10 hits for notable entries, and came across these ones:

#3 - 1990s German aggregated top 10 hits

#10 - 1990s German aggregated top 10 hits

#25 - 1990s German aggregated top 10 hits

#33 - 1990s German aggregated top 10 hits

#3 - 2000s German aggregated top 10 hits

This one - # 12 2000s German aggregated Top 10 hits - probably hasn't got much airplay outside of Germany (be happy about it). so it may be excluded from the international selection. Anyway, anybody with a masochistic streak may appreciate the link..

Trace Adkins "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk"

Got it goin' on
Like Donkey Kong
And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma

Seems like I didn't provide the means for one to watch it:

I guess 99 Luftballoons is too old for the contest.

I'd say anything off of Sid Vicious' Sid Sings.

I wouldn't classify anything Sid Vicious was ever involved in as "music", so dunno if that counts.

Anything involving the Book of Mormon (I know it got great reviews, It even won a bunch of Tony's but it's the most bizarre strange and weird Broadway Musical (with religious themes) out there)

Everyone's a little bit racist (Avenue Q Soundtrack) because it's so damn true...
http://www.songlyrics.com/avenue-q/everyone-s-a-little-bit-racist-lyrics/

When you got it flaunt it (The Producers) (Especially the 2005 version with Nathan Lane and Uma Thurman)
http://www.songlyrics.com/the-producers/when-you-got-it-flaunt-it-lyrics/

Heil Myself (The Producers) (This song failed badly as comedy)(On the other hand I loved Springtime for Hitler)
