http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/Provinces_of_Japan-Kawachi.svg

This is an outline map of the old provinces of Japan, before the Meiji Restoration and associated land and local government reforms, with Kawachi Province, in what's now the eastern part of Osaka, highlighted.

I did wonder how long it would take to get a visit from orgermasmy. You can have that one on the house.. just rolls off the tongue.

This guy is pretty self-descriptive:

A nice background illustration to all these "Why is Iowa not voting Republican?" threads.

Here something completely different - great collection of historical Hamburg maps (16th to early 20th century)

Available here, is a circa 1604 Japanese colored copy of 'Kunyu Wanguo Quantu', (坤輿萬國全圖, 'A Map of the Myriad Countries of the World'; pronounced 'Kon'yo Bankoku Zenzu' in Japanese; in Italian 'Carta Geografica Completa di tutti i Regni del Mondo', 'Complete Geographical Map of All the Kingdoms of the World'), a world map printed by the Jesuit missionary Matteo Ricci and his Chinese colleagues, Zhong Wentao and Li Zhizao, in 1602 on the sponsorship of the Wanli Ming Emperor. It is the earliest known East Asian world map in a European cartographic style.

Speaking of Japan, here is Toscanelli's map that Columbus used on his first trans-atlantic voyage.

He put Japan (Zipangu) a little too far south, but overall it's pretty accurate.  (Except that North America and South America are completely missing!  No wonder he called the Carib peoples "Indians.")

Meh, hasn't changed how West Texas or West Oklahoma votes.  Map is a bit out of date as wind has expanded quite a bit in Kansas, although in that case Sebulius basically tricked the mud eaters into backing it.

What's so bad about mobile homes?  Granted there are some older ones that are awful, but the ones they build today are generally good value for the money, if you have some land you can put them on.

Tornadoes in Minnesota?  I'd think that would go to Oklahoma or Kansas.

And Michigan is no longer the worst in unemployment, in large part because so many people have moved out of state to find jobs.  (Hopefully Gov. Snyder is bringing them back! Smiley)

Uhh.... that's not really a good solution to lower the unemployment rate

right.  They should use the far superior solution that the federal government uses:  redefine unemployment.

He's not saying that it's a solution, just that it happened to transpire. I think you're creating an association between the first part of his statement and the parentheses that follow it and combining it into "Luckily Gov. Snyder drove people out of the state, so now we have less unemployment." which is, of course, not what he said.
