I haven't been paying much attention to Arkansas, so I wonder why is Pryor so vulnerable come November? Last time he was reelected with no Republican opposition. Of course, five years is long time in politics, but still. Could somebody please explain?

Republicanization, his own voting record and lacking political skills are most of it.

He's very independent like Manchin and doesn't toe party line like on guns. So, he has to fend for himself for what is gonna be a political fight of his career.

It's not even that. He's less of a populist like Manchin or Landrieu and more of a generic moderate hero like Baucus.

There's a black guy in the White House now. I'd elaborate more, but this is Arkansas, so that should suffice.

Because he is a somewhat moderate Democrat who represents a state that went from being a lean Democrat state during the Clinton years to being a very safe Republican state today.

Mark Pryor could survive even with Obama and Obamacare if he had a single bone of political skill in his body, but as his super desperate ads and behavior seem to suggest, he does not have that skill.

By coming out against the minimum wage increase, he may have just cost himself this seat. And he has nobody to blame but himself.

Is it too late for a primary challenger against Pryor the Cryer?

Filing deadline's March 1, but there's no appetite for it given what happened last time.

I'd be tempted to vote for Cotton if I lived in Arkansas. Pryor has always struck me as a mediocre politician who coasted to where he is on his father's reputation.

Even Manchin supports raising the minimum wage.

I'm honestly embarrassed that we couldn't have found someone better to primary him in 2008. If I'm an AR Democrat I'm voting Green.

Pryor supports it too, just throwing Wal-Mart a bone. In '07 there was buzz about... Halter.

The thing about Manchin is, although most Democrats here don't like him, he is at least consistent in where he stands and actually does things in the Senate, which sadly I can't say for many congressional Democrats.  Pryor is only there for being there, and he'll do what ever it takes to stay there no matter how unwise and blatantly pretentious it is.  If I didn't want the Democrats to keep the Senate so badly, I'd easily support a Green candidate like I would have in 2008.  I know it's Arkansas, but Pryor has absolutely no argument for why he should be reelected other than to keep us control of the Senate.

I hope this doesn't turn into a Blanche Lincoln situation, where Rachel Maddow said it best. There's one thing to be a moderate or conservative minded Democrat, and another thing to just not want to be a Democrat. I hope Pryor doesn't go so far as Blanche and look like he just doesn't want to be a Democrat.

He already is.

Better yet, the Democratic Party needs to tell him, "You can't run as a Democrat."

I can take his stances on gay marriage and background checks. While they're important, they aren't exactly pressing issues in the long run.

Minimum wage? This is unforgivable. As far as I'm concerned Pryor is no longer a Democrat.
