Do some people on this forum literally hate white people?

I get that impression when I read certain posters gleefully cheering when "white tears" allegedly occur over some issue (like Romney losing) or when they speak of the white population in America proportionately decreasing not simply as a factual demographic trend but as a good thing in and of itself.

I'm trying to picture a bunch of black conservative Republicans somewhere mocking things like the Trayvon Martin protestors or suggesting that nothing brings them more joy than defeating ghetto hoodlums and I just can't see it. Not even from someone like Allen West.

It's more that they just like to think of themselves as cooler than other white people. As though while admitting they are white, they aren't that kind of white.

I think its more of bashing stereotypical white people when politically convenient more than any kind of hate. But I will say this place has a serious obsession/problem with race relations. Some of those threads got very ugly quick.

Considering that the white race is the oppressor, there is an effort to disassociate oneself from it.  At the same time, one cannot disassociate by denying the importance of race, which is inviolable. In order to be able to say anything about race, one has to adopt the appearance of a neutral position in a conflict model of race relations, without ever actually claiming to be able to speak from a neutral position.  This is accomplished through criticism of white people and a penance of irony.  All reference to one's own experience as a white person must be about the complete and unrelenting lack of perspective and understanding which one's white privilege creates, but not in any way that  might suggest self-pity to the casual audience, nor that the lack of perspective derived from one's whiteness is in any way interesting in itself.

White men tend to be (somewhat) more affluent and generally less emotional/sympathetic, and so are more responsive to reactionary rhetoric than the general population. Also, one could argue that they subconsciously want to maintain their privileged position against others, though as we both know the Democrats will not meaningfully change anything about that other than perhaps making the ruling class a bit more diverse.

Depends on the place. In the Deep South and Appalachia, mostly race baiting and social issues. In other places, a misguided yet pervasive belief that Republicans are better managers of the economy.

Also: before someone asks "but what about class", it should be noted that white men in the United States are both significantly wealthier (on average, o/c) than the general population, and that, while white men are a Republican voting bloc across the class spectrum, it's quite likely that for white male voters,  income and wealth have a strong positive association with voting Republican.

IOW: the higher in SES a white man is, the more likely he is to vote Republican-just like most other demographics. This is especially more pronounced in more conservative areas of the country (the South, the Plains, Appalachia, parts of the Midwest).

'White' here is purely a cultural marker, not a 'racial' one in any sense (I think we all know what I'm talking about)
