Personally I preferred Titanic, but I'm interested to see what everyone else thinks...

Titanic was an epic movie, despite the mediocre plot.

I've never watched either one all the way through and I probably never will.

Yep. Avatar was just silly and forgettable for me. Titanic was saccharine and manipulative but was well done and memorable.

Voted for Avatar.

Then again, I've only seen Titanic once... 16 years ago. Back then I despised Leonardo DiCaprio because he was the boy who made all women giggle like schoolgirls. Nowadays, I love DiCaprio myself because of Blood Diamond, Inception, and Django Unchained. Perhaps this would also alter my view of Titanic in a positive way if I were to watch it again... who knows.

Anyway, back to Avatar. I'm aware of the criticisms and they are in fact true. That being said, I still tend to think that this movie is judged too harshly by many. I like it for what it is. It was never intended to be Shakespeare or the Godfather in the first place.

Titanic was actually a good movie.

Avatar had decent visuals but I can't overlook the overwrought storyline. It would have been better if they had made it all a fantasy. Start with Jake and a bunch of guys in the mess hall of a spaceship, deep in space approaching to a planet of unobtainium. Jake gets bullied for being in a wheelchair. One of the women on the crew sympathizes and befriends him. He goes back to his room, falls asleep, and starts dreaming. The movie happens. Jake wakes up, tells his woman friend about the dream. She encourages him to write it down as a story. Jake goes and confronts the bully, and cleverly defeats him by programming a robotic avatar. Then Jake goes back to his room and begins writing, with a smile on his face.

Titanic, though I remember having mild anxiety issues while watching it, "How are they gonna escape!?"

I saw Titanic at the now closed down theater down the road from my childhood home four times in late 1997 and early 1998.

Watched Titanic when it first came out, and did not watch it again. Did not see Avatar, actually. Not really interested. So I guess I can't vote for any option other than the third.

He consistently makes above average cookie-cutter kinds of movies that I just don't get off on. I probably feel too manipulated by his style.
