This is a fantastic bill. As a heavy drinker, I support forcing booze on all our citizens.

If anyone has a better way to word this, I'm open for suggestions, but the basis of the bill is simple. My two home states, Utah, and Kansas, have two of the worst laws on this. Actually, I may introduce another amendment that privatizes the sale of alcohol.

Consistency in Drug Enforcement Bill

1. No municipality within Atlasia may prohibit the sale or consumption of alcohol, including restrictions on the basis of which day of the week such products are sold.

You guys should also look into requiring packaging warnings to inform the casual user of the danger of addiction, damage to health, and death due to alcohol abuse.

I'm inclined to let the regions handle this issue for themselves. It's not like Atlasia is rife with prohibitionists.

My proposed amendment (based off Ebowed's proposal like Tyrion's).

TNF, would you be willing to support a legal purchase age of eighteen rather than sixteen? We could tie it to legal adulthood.

We already have a legal purchase age of 18.

Ah, I hadn't realized Atlasia had changed it from 21. In that case, I'm fine with your amendment.

Talley's is friendly, TNF's...I'm not sure on, so I'm going to say unfriendly so we can vote on it.

I thought that you were right, but Windjammer seems to be evidence to the contrary.

Not to mention the 5 or so bills introduced in the queue today.

I object to Talleyrand's amendment.    If we are going to require a warning label of the sort suggested, it should be something that the maker is able to just stick on their product without having to guess and wait for bureaucratic approval.

You could make it like cigarette warnings where the alcohol manufacturers will already be aware of the warnings and have to design their labels accordingly.

There really shouldn't be anything to debate here unless people want to expand this conceptually? Of course some places have regulated alcohol sales. RL parallel of course is Pennsylvania where it's handled by "state stores." So maybe you guys want to guarantee privatized sales?

Anyway, outright prohibition is just off the wall totally whacky.

I have an empty 1.5 liter bottle that used to be filled with Cabernet Sauvignon getting ready to be recycled. It would make a very nice blunt weapon to be used against prohibitors of alcohol. Grin

*puts the rum bottle down* I raise an objection to the bill. Several counties are dry for numerous regions which does not include bible thumping. Numerous Native American/Atlasian and Alaska Native communities are dry due to the fact that alcohol abuse has historically been rampant in Native American communities. Furthermore, Native Americans are pre-disposed to alcoholism. Although I am certainly not a fan of dry counties, I wanted members to be aware of some of the cultural implications and sensitivities around this.

I don't think this would effect Native American reservations, so I doubt it will have that much of a cultural impact.
