Not a common political topic, at least to my knowledge.  I'd say Option 2, with restrictions: no hunting threatened or endangered species, and you'd need a license.

Option 1 - got nothing against it, though I dislike hunters who don't eat/use what they kill. I dislike waste in general, for that matter.

Hunting is good if practiced by 95% of the people who do it.  The rest should be thrown in jail, mainly for leaving an animal carcass in the woods, not using the meat, shooting more than allowed, etc.  Hunting is a big thing where I am, and is quite fun.  Something everyone should try one time at least.

Option 2

The idea is disgusting.

There are several species who are useful for nothign other than puting their heads on the living room wall, providing what I see as a great piece of decoration.

Option 1, though I, like John Dibble, don't like hunting just for the sake of killing something.  Native Americans, when they killed a buffalo, used every single part of the animal's body for one thing or another, and only killed enough buffalo such that they could make use of every single buffalo they killed.  I'm not, of course, expecting everyone nowadays to be exactly like the Native Americans were, but it's a good and sustainable model to work from.

Option 1.  I've never been hunting, but I'd like to go once just to try it out.  I have nothing against it.

Maybe it's just the raging liberal in me, but I don't like the wording of calling an animal "useful".  Given that they have their own consciousness and are most certainly alive, I personally am not terribly pleased by people who kill animals purely to put a head up on their wall.  If they can't provide you with anything other than a decoration, leave them alone.

Lions, for instance. If you want something a little closer to home maybe wolves or prey birds.

Just a note, suprised this hasn't been mentioned, but hunting can be necessary in some places - like places where the deer have become overpopulated. In such areas many deer would starve to death if their numbers were not thinned.

Not quite my taste, Cashcow.. and I would say beneath your usual standard of behaviour on the forum.  I was thinking of something more like this:

I'm torn between 1 and 3.  Will decide later.

I'm not given to zoroastrianism, so I really don't see the world in terms of "good" and "evil" but I also recognize that among those who do, "good" generally implies beneficial.  So I'm tempted to choose option 3, the no-brainer option, as a manifestation of 3.5 billion years of biological endeavor that has made me so intelligent, so beautiful, and so strong.

On the other hand, I've never gone hunting and have not much use for it.

In any case, I'm certainly glad there's Meat.

Hunting for food if you really need it is perfectly OK to me.

Hunting for food just because you want to is OK, I suppose, as long as you aren't overdoing it.

Hunting for trophies is not something I approve of, but I do not want it to be illegal.
