Greetings, good people of the Northeast. I would like to announce that I am running for Governor of this fine region.

Here's where it all started:
I, Dallasfan65, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of Northeast Representative and will do the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitutions of Atlasia and the Northeast Region, so help me Dave.

I went on to serve this fine region as Representative and Speaker until June, and for another stint from October to December. Currently I am the region's Chief Judicial Officer, an office I have held for a little over a year. However, I feel that perhaps I could better serve this great region by running to be its next Governor. My predecessor Sirnick will be a tough act to follow, but I shall do my best.

I understand that there is a good portion of the Northeast that has not been around for as long as myself. In keeping with the principles of honesty and forthrightness, I would like to call attention to the less flattering aspects of my record. The Invaligate scandal remains a demerit on my record, as well as an underwhelming stint as Vice President. Neither of these instances are how I would conduct myself as Governor, though if one were to not vote for me because of them I would not begrudge them that right.

More to come.

For what it is worth, I think you would make a very good Governor. I hope the Northeast elects you next month.

I did not expect such strong support! I am grateful.

The Vice President was kind enough to make a campaign banner for me. Smiley

While I still have more work I'd like to do, this is what I have shaped up for a gubernatorial agenda thus far.

Chief Judicial Officer Dallasfan65, reading his agenda.

Hello everybody! Though it is a bit belated, I would like to welcome Representative Earthling to the race.

That being said, courtesy of the Vice President, it seems as if I've already secured a pivotal endorsement:

As I've mentioned, I've since done some more work on shaping up a gubernatorial agenda, provided I am elected. By no means are these finalistic, and will be open to amendments to incoming Assemblies.

I am very much in favor of the legislation proposals you've here, Dallasfan65. I would love to introduce modified versions of them at the federal level, if that's quite alright with you.

I appreciate the sentiment, Senator! You are more than welcome to do so. Smiley

With regards to the Cheech and Chong Act, you are probably in a greater capacity to affect the law than I am, given that I tried to structure it within the confines of Federal statute (which was a bit murky.)

I thought that marijuana was already completely legal to use and sell at the Federal level, but maybe I'm mistaken. In any case, these are all good pieces of legislation that I would vote in favor of if I was still in the Assembly. Smiley

It is, as is LSD and a host of other drugs I pushed into legality with the Comprehensive Drug Reform Act of 2013. Wink

It is.

That being said, here is the existing Federal statute on marijuana:

As I'm not too savvy on tobacco laws: are people within their rights to grow tobacco for recreational use, as per Atlasian law? I'm not sure.

Plus, while there are already "Big Tobacco" companies I imagine there aren't any "Big Marijuana" companies established. Section 2 of the Cheech and Chong Act would allow people to legally commune and sell different strains of marijuana in public areas (provided they obtain a permit.) In real life, "Hempfests" exist but local authorities in Boston have been trying to crack down on such activities, despite decriminalization in Massachusetts. So, I figured this would give us some regional framework to work within. Smiley

Also, thanks for the support!

Greetings again, fellow Northeasterners. I apologize for any perceived lull in activity over the past few days.

Since my last update, I've thought of additional reforms that I'd like to pursue as Governor.

Both of these are in embryonic stages (I'd like to explore deeper police reform with regards to the first bill.) However, these are the sorts of issues that I'd like to bring to the table as Governor.
