Yeah I really don't like King but he is 100% correct on this point.  I am still dumbstruck by how many narcissistic Americans think the Government is spending untold billions of dollars a year to hire millions of people to listen in on their inane phone calls and read their pointless emails.

Google... scans your email and sells what it finds to advertisers so they can market stuff to you.
Target... takes your data and puts it on the worlds most insecure server so the crims can sell it in online open air bazaars.

In the case of Target and many other companies very real harm has been caused to tens of millions of Americans but you don't see Paul lifting a figure to "investigate" or sue anyone.  Instead he is wetting his panties and whipping up dumb people into a frenzy over something that hasn't materially harmed anyone.

Look I don't really like any of this but given a choice between the government making a back up of my emails and starting a full blown war to "fight terrorists" I would rather the government utilize as many noexploding tools as possible.  I would rather the government use data and good detective work than go around invading countries, kidnapping people, and using secret prisons.

Shouldn't exactly be breaking news that there has been a cease fire since 1998...

A note on Brighton- you try to kill leadership when you are fighting a war. Thatcher herself had shoot to kill orders against IRA suspects. And she didnt exactly give much quarter to the guys in the Belgrano or H Block wings.

Killing innocent civilians is a reprehensible act and the tactic should be condemned whether it was employed by the British Army, RUC, B Specials, the various Loyalist paramilitaries or the IRA.
