Does anyone else call this programme 'musical chairs'?

None that I know. Explain the moniker?

This poll is tough. I voted season 3; season 2's premiere and finales were both too scattered for me to really enjoy.

Plus season 2 had that awful Cersei/Littlefinger scene. That scene is very controversial among book-first fans.

For the record, I'm a show-first fan, but I read the books after the first season of the show ended.

For me:

1. 1
2. 2
3. 3

They're all good though and it's a really close call between season 1 and 2.

3-2-1.

I think the writers have only been getting better since the first season. It took them a while to find the right balance between reproducing the books on screen and actually adapting them in an intelligent way to a new medium, but they're at a good point now. Season 2 was probably the most interesting/entertaining season though. The Tyrion in charge storyline leading up to the big battle was great.

Yeah, the battle at the end of season 2 was just so awesome. I hope we get a big battle like that in this season. I haven't read the books so I have no idea what's coming next.

We'll have to have spoiler and non-spoiler discussion threads when season 4 premieres March 30.

Robert Baratheon was a favorite of mine in season 1... That said, I think each season has improved on the last, though episode 9 of season 2 involving the Battle of Blackwater has been my favorite.

If Season 4 ends when most readers expect it to, you won't be disappointed.

Nice, nice. I just hope they don't skimp on the battle footage because of budget concerns as they sometimes have in the past. The show is such a big hit now that hopefully they won't have to.

Season 3, while the main cast did great as always (Jaime in particular), the secondary cast also managed to steal the spotlight quite a few times with Varys, Lady Olenna, Tywin Lannister, Roose Bolton, the Mormont/Selmy duo and Lord Frey. I can't wait to see the new characters in action, like Prince Oberyn Martell...

Season 5 (Book 4) is going to suck. I mean, Book 4 was horrible.

That's a bummer. Maybe they'll change enough from the book so that it doesn't suck (but I don't want to get into spoilers here).

I predict, for Season 5, they will either add two episodes or get more CGI/Awesome Stuff $$$$

Don't books 4 and 5 happen at the same time? I haven't read any of the books, but that's what I've picked up through the AV Club and the GoT reddit. They'd probably do some combination of the two over two seasons.

Spoilers in white text
Yes, books four and five happen concurrently. Martin got severe writer's block a few years into writing the fourth. There were also some major structural issues and changes (for example there was initially supposed to be a ~7 year time jump after the third). Eventually Martin's publisher persuaded him to release the whole book for some characters. Book four centers solely on the southern half of Westeros and the main characters who travel to the Free Cities across the Narrow Sea.. Book five covers characters in the North, as well as Daenerys. The final third of the fifth book brings in the characters from the fourth and continues their stories as well. All together books four and five will probably cover two seasons. However I predict some early things from the fourth/fifth book will be at the tail end of season 4.

Edited to add: for readers so inclined, there is a fan-made ebook compiling books four and five. There is also a very good chapter order for people who would prefer to juggle the two physical books: http://boiledleather.com/post/24543217702/a-proposed-a-feast-for-crows-a-dance-with-dragons

Benioff and Weiss have already made changes that will drastically alter how they cover books four and five. I doubt that the show will suffer from the same problems. They'll also need to condense a lot of material to fit the series into seven seasons.

They aren't limited to seven seasons.

And what changes are you referring to?
