Of course, let us not forget the most famous person forced to leave LSU, William Tecumseh Sherman.

Huey Long is the greatest human being among all Deep South politicians between the end of Reconstruction and the end of Jim Crow.  Surely we can all agree on that much?

No. Why would we all agree on that?

Because he actually cared about the poor and was half-assed at best at keeping up Jim Crow?  No, he didn't end segregation but he actually funded programs to help blacks find jobs and improve black schools.  Did any other Deep South governor of the era do that?

No offense, but am I supposed to just recognize who that is?

{looks it up}.  Ah, Hugo Black.  Not awful compared to other Deep South segregationists, but still was a staunch segregationist.  Unfortunately I put him in the top 10%, but not #1.

I should've put a name in there Tongue

Looking at Black's SCOTUS record, calling him a "staunch segregationist" seems pretty absurd.  He was an avid New Dealer, who then had a 35 year record of excellent decisions on the Warren Court.  Black > Long

I'm still waiting for the headline that says, "18 years later, NKU honors man that it expelled for criticizing Newt Gingrich."

All things considered, being expelled from NKU is hardly the worst thing that could happen to someone who criticized the Chubby Leader.

After the war, he gave them the two cannons that had been used to start the war.
