Very sorry to hear this. I echo 20RP12's statements and hope that all involved are okay. They'll be in my thoughts.

They are okay. Very dusty and shaken but fine. They were seeing a band at the back of the bar away from the main bar.

8 people dead and a mystery why that copter crashed, is what I hear. Sad

(Also, I misread the original post as them being in the helicopter, at first.)

As did I.  I've been keeping up with this story, hoping for the best for your family, but fearing the worst when I thought they were in the helicopter.  So glad they're ok, Andrew.

Thank you everyone.

They were at the back of the pub in an area listening to a band. The roof came in not far from them as the helicopter slammed into the bar area itself. They got out and were dusty and dazed but I know my brother's wife is still in shock. It was only a few weeks ago that my other brother working in Nairobi left the mall five minutes before the terrorists arrived. That's two close calls. I'm still waiting to hear about the well being of a few people who might have been at the pub that night.

Speaking of terrorists, I hope we hear if that was the case soon.  Horrifying if it was.  Apparently it was a police helicopter that crashed into the pub, according to the sources I'm reading.

There's nothing suspect about it as I understand. Myself and my husband were in the city that night on what is usually the busiest night of the year (last payday before Christmas) and we saw the helicopter; it was just helping with crowd control. If it had engine trouble it was either trying to bail into the river or into a car park not far behind the pub. When I heard what had happened I had known that people I knew were seeing a band there and there was a bit of confusion before we got information on people there.

Okay, you and your family apparently need to stay indoors forever.
