Feb. 27, 2024 - Crist goes negative on Gillibrand

MADISON, WI - Ahead of presidential primaries in Wisconsin and Indiana, Democratic Presidential Hopeful Charlie Crist attacked opponent Kristen Gillibrand. "Senator Gillibrand has proposed that we reduce taxes but also increase spending, the math simply doesn't add up. She's proposing a $500 billion tax cut, plus another $300 billion in new federal spending. She also proposes cutting the size of the federal workforce by 10%, but since she doesn't say where we can't tell if that'll make up the $800 billion in tax cuts and spending increases she proposes" Crist said on the campaign trail.

March 1, 2024 - Gillibrand calls Crist "desperate" in light of attack ads

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Senator Kristen Gillibrand said Charlie Crist was desperate after he launched attack ads against her. "Governor Crist is playing a political game attacking me. The truth is, I've worked on a bi-partisian basis to achieve expanded health care coverage for our veterans, education reform which is working, and a bi-partisian plan to reduce the national debt - which is why our debt is lower today than it was a decade ago" Gillibrand stated.

March 2, 2024 - Toomey interested in being Governor of Pennsylvania

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Senate Minority Leader Pat Toomey expressed interest in running for Governor of Pennsylvania in the 2026 election. "Since 2014, I've been the only republican who has been able to win statewide - I won 53% of the vote in 2016 and 55% in 2022, and our state needs someone who is going to reduce taxes to promote job growth while reducing spending in Harrisburg, where the democrats have nearly doubled our state debt over the past nine years" Toomey said. Toomey said he wouldn't decide on a run for Governor until at least November 2025.

August 4, 2024 - Booker delivers DNC keynote address

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Governor Cory Booker of New Jersey gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. "Kristen Gillibrand and Charlie Crist offer our country a chance to achieve anything we put our minds too. They've put forth a bold platform to balance the federal budget while investing in education and health care for the poor. They've proposed cutting taxes for working families by asking millionaire's to pay a little more. They've proposed reasonable gun control measures and working with republicans to reduce the size of the federal government. I know they'll bring about the change we need in Washington" Booker told delegates.

August 6, 2024 - Crist accepts Democratic Vice Presidential Nomination

PHLADELPHIA, PA - Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist accepted his party's nomination for Vice President. "At one time, I was a republican. But, as the party started moving away from it's original values, I changed. Today, I stand here in front of you as a proud democrat. I believe in the values of the democratic party - opportunity, equality, and liberty for all. Our opponents believe that we would be better off simply by cutting taxes and doing nothing else for the next four years" Crist told delegates.

August 7, 2024 - Gillibrand accepts Democratic Presidential Nomination

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Senator Kristen Gillibrand of New York accepted her party's nomination for President. "I'm ready to lead this country. I have fought to expand health care access to our poor, reduce taxes for everyone, reform our country's broken immigration system, and expand health care access for our veterans. As President, my priorities will be to balance the federal budget, cut taxes on the middle class and working families, expand health care access to poor women and children, invest in education, strengthen veteran's hospitals, and defend this country" Gillibrand told delegates.

August 14, 2024 - President Christie gives RNC keynote address

NEW YORK, NY - President Christie gave the RNC keynote address. "Over the past eight years, our economy has added 11 million new jobs, incomes have risen $1,200 on average, we've cut taxes by $1.1 trillion, the national debt is down by over $6 trillion, federal spending is down by 12%, government is smaller by over 120,000 workers. Social security and medicare have been reformed. Our border has been secured. Our schools have seen record test scores. The question before you now is, do you want to move forward with confidence and hope, or go back to the dark days of massive spending, big government, and the worst recession since the great depression?" Christie said.
August 16, 2024 - Grimm accepts GOP Vice Presidential Nomination

NEW YORK, NY - Mayor Michael Grimm of New York City accepted his party's vice presidential nomination. "We stand here, in the midst of great prosperity and of security, looking to the future. The policies of the past eight years have resulted in 10 million new jobs, rising incomes, and a national debt which is being reduced by the minute. But, we still have challenges. We need to fix our inner-cities. We need to reduce the cost of health insurance. We need to become fully energy independent. We have the plan to get these things done" Grimm told delegates.

August 15, 2024 - Martinez accepts GOP Presidential Nomination

NEW YORK, NY - Vice President Susanna Martinez accepted the Republican Nomination for President. "I pledge to you tonight, that I will use the experience I've acquired as a federal prosecutor, vice president, and President to be an effective reformer. I will go to Washington and fight to reduce taxes across the board by 25%. I will go to Washington to increase the number of police on America's streets. I'll go to Washington to continue reforming education. We have work to do, and I'm confident, thanks to the leadership of President Christie, we can continue the prosperity of the past eight years for another eight!" Martinez told supporters.

August 21, 2024 - Poll finds Gillibrand leading in presidential race

Gallup - National
Kristen Gillibrand 46%
Susanna Martinez 42%

September 15, 2024 - Christie signs women's health care bill into law

WASHINGTON, DC - President Christie signed a bill into law requiring health insurance companies to cover part of the cost of preventative health care for women.

October 12, 2024 - Martinez, Gillibrand debate domestic issues
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Republican Presidential Nominee Susanna Martinez and Democratic Presidential nominee Kristen Gillibrand participated in their first presidential debate.

Memorable quotes:

"For the past eight years, thanks to the bi-partisian accomplishments of this administration, we've seen the restoration of our nation's economy followed by growth. Our economy has added over 11 million new jobs, income is up by over $1,400, the national debt has gone from $19.7 trillion down to $13.5 trillion, and consumer confidence is double what it was eight years ago. I've proposed reducing tax rates across the board by 25%, balancing the federal budget by capping federal spending, and creating new tax incentives for green technology. My opponent has proposed $800 billion in new spending, but has no way to pay for it" - Susanna Martinez

"Nobody is doubting that the past eight years have seen the restoration of our economy in some regards. The question people are asking is, which one of us can deliver expanded opportunity? The truth is, the Vice President has been rather vague in the policies she advocates. I've been bold. My tax cut would reduce the payroll tax in half for those making under $80,000 per year. I've said I'd keep the Christie tax cuts, which I voted for, permanent - but I'd reduce the size of the federal workforce via attrition by 10% and ask the wealthy to pay 40% of their income in taxes while we close cooperate loopholes. I've proposed investments in health care, education, and infrastructure totaling $200 billion - plus by $600 billion tax cut. But, the $800 billion is paid for by doing the things I mentioned, plus taking into account current federal revenues" - Kristen Gillibrand

CNN Poll: Who won the presidential debate?
Kristen Gillibrand 47%
Susanna Martinez 41%

October 17, 2024 - Crist, Grimm participate in vice presidential debate
LOUISVILLE, KY - Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Charlie Crist and Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Michael Grimm participated in a vice presidential debate.

Memorable quotes are as follows:

"The republicans have spoken about cutting taxes and not much else. In the U.S. Senate, Kristen Gillibrand supported their tax cuts - but also pushed forward expanding veterans health care, education reform, and research grant tax credits. As a Governor, I did reduce taxes. But, I also made sure our state made investments in education, green technology, and that we engaged in international trade. Tax cuts are one part of growing our economy, you also have to invest in alternate energy, education, and support free trade" - Charlie Crist

"The fact of the matter is, I know crisis. I inherited a city where the crime rate increased by 12% in the 4 years before I took office. Our city lost 22,000 jobs even as the U.S. economy added 5 million jobs in the same time period. City spending increased 24%, taxes went up 9%. Since I've been Mayor, we reduced crime by 38%, city spending has been reduced by 33%, taxes have been cut by 15%, and we've added over 108,000 new private-sector jobs. So, I think I've been an effective leader and am qualified to be Vice President" - Michael Grimm

October 19, 2024 - At event in Colorado, former presidential hopefuls predict close election

DENVER, CO - At a forum, Former Presidential Candidates Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) and Rick Santorum (R-PA) predicted the 2024 election would be close. "I think that Kristen Gillibrand is probably running a more effective campaign, but Susanna Martinez benefits from the President's popularity. The economy is strong, and that helps the republicans. I think Senator Gillibrand will win, but it's going to be close" Cuomo stated. "The Vice President has the advantage of being in the Christie white house, and I think she has broader appeal to independents based on the issues - tax cuts and balanced budgets - she's running on. She's focusing on the right places - Virginia, Florida, and Pennsylvania. I think Senator Gillibrand, however, is also focusing on the right places. It's going to be a very close election, I honestly don't know who will win" Santorum said. Cuomo served as Governor of New York from 2011-2023 and was the 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee. Santorum served in the U.S. Senate from 1995-2007 and was a presidential hopeful in 2012 and 2016. Cuomo presently is an attorney in New York City, Santorum is currently a Fox News Contributor and radio talk show host.

October 23, 2024 - Candidates participate in second presidential debate on foreign policy
LAS VEGAS, NV - Democratic Presidential Nominee Kristen Gillibrand and Republican Presidential Nominee Susanna Martinez participated in a second presidential debate on foreign policy.

Memorable quotes:

"For the past eight years, this administration has strengthened our alliances with other countries by trading with them, we've invested in homeland security, human intelligence, and armor for our troops, and we've made our country safer. I will continue these policies, but I'll also emphasize a larger military and making sure we invest even more in human intelligence" - Susanna Martinez

"I have supported many of the Christie administration's policies in the international arena. One thing I believe is critical is we need to be serious about strengthening our alliances and emphasizing the rights of women and minorities in country's where they have none. To his credit, this President has tried to bring attention to human right's violations, but I think we need a comprehensive strategy to combat violations of human right's globally" - Kristen Gillibrand

CBS Poll - Who won the second debate?
Susanna Martinez 44%
Kristen Gillibrand 41%

October 28, 2024 - Martinez, Gillibrand participate in final debate
MONTCLAIR, NJ - Democratic Presidential Nominee Kristen Gillibrand and Republican Presidential Nominee Susanna Martinez participated in a final presidential debate.

Memorable quotes:

"Over the course of the next four years, I'll reduce income taxes by 25%, move to cut and cap federal spending to move towards a balance budget, we'll fight to lower the cost of health care by increasing competition, and we'll work to end our country's dependence on foreign sources of energy. For eight years, I've worked with the President to revive our nation's economy and protect our borders. We need strong, effective leadership. I'm asking for your vote so we can continue to move this country forward" - Susanna Martinez

"I'm a Democrat and proud of it. But, I also have worked with republicans. I've worked with President Christie and republicans to reduce taxes, expand veteran's health care, reform education, and reduce the national debt. Our economy is strong, but it can be even stronger. We shouldn't settle for the status-quo. What Americans deserve in Washington is a fighter. I'll fight for every single American. I have the experience of working hard and fighting for you, and I'll continue to fight to reduce taxes on working families, expand health care coverage to the needy, reduce class sizes in education, fight crime in our inner-cities, balance the federal budget, and pass reasonable gun control legislation. I'm humbly asking for your vote so we can build a brighter future for all Americans" - Kristen Gillibrand

Fox News Poll - Who won the final presidential debate?
Kristen Gillibrand 47%
Susanna Martinez 41%

November 7, 2024 - Candidates make final cases to Americans

Wrapping up final bus tours, the presidential hopefuls and their running mates made their final cases to the American public. On the trail with President Christie and Senate Minority Leader Pat Toomey, Republican Presidential Nominee Susanna Martinez held her final campaign event in her home state of New Mexico, after a bus tour brought her through Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico. "I'm asking for your vote because together, we'll continue to build on the progress of the past eight years" Martinez told supporters in Santa Fe, NM. Meanwhile, Democratic Presidential Nominee Kristen Gillibrand ended a bus tour with Governor Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) in Richmond, VA after making stops in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia. "We need a President who will build a brighter future for all Americans, and I have the experience and understanding of the issues to be that leader" Gillibrand told supporters in Virginia. Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Michael Grimm spent his last day of campaigning in New Jersey after traveling through Ohio and Pennsylvania. Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Charlie Crist spent time in his home state of Florida following campaign events in Ohio and North Carolina during his last day of campaigning.

I find it a little hard to believe that New Mexico would vote for Martinez more than Arkansas would.

Two comments. First, how did 2020 census affect electoral college? Second, it seems that most states are the same (so far), with regards to swing states and reliable R/D states. Georgia is mainly what caught my eye. Did it stay reliably republican during Christie administration? Also, I love how Chiesa is now on SCOTUS. Wonder if there was a big deal that he was also senate at one point? Keep it up!

Well, I am assuming the EV is the same although it won't be. It did stay in the GOP column during the Christie landslide of 2020 and his win in 2016.

I predict that Gillibrand wins 288-250 and the race is called at 1:30 AM on the East Coast. Right now, Gillibrand vs Martinez is too close to call. If New Hampshire goes for Gillibrand, I think we can say Gillibrand leads the race.

Here is your answer;

10 PM
We can now project that Montana has gone for the Vice President with 58% of the vote. Nevada remains too close to call. Utah goes republican, with 66% of the vote.

11 PM
We have more projections to make. California goes to Gillibrand. Hawaii goes to Gillibrand. Idaho goes for Martinez. North Dakota goes to Martinez. Oregon and Washington both stay democratic.

11:40 PM
At this hour, we are ready to project that, with 99% of the precincts reporting, Kristen Gillibrand has carried the President's home state of New Jersey by a margin of 52%-47%. The state went democratic in every year from 1992-2016, then went for President Christie twice, both times by large margins, but now goes back to the democrats. Republican Former Governor Tom Kean Jr. won a senate seat in New Jersey tonight though, he defeated Democrat Jerry Fulop 50%-48%. Interesting.

11:57 PM
We can now call New Hampshire for Kristen Gillibrand, she wins there 53%-46%.

1 AM
We project that Alaska goes for Martinez.

2:40 AM
In Virginia, we call the race for the Vice President. All of the votes have been counted, and each candidate won 49% of the vote - but the Vice President leads by 18,244 votes - giving her the electoral votes from Virginia. At this hour, Vice President Martinez has 209 electoral votes, Senator Gillibrand has 226.

3:10 AM
Almost all of the votes have been counted in Iowa, and we have a projection to make - the Vice President has won Iowa, 50%-49%. That means she now has 215 electoral college votes.

3:45 AM
We can now call the race in Pennsylvania for Kristen Gillibrand, she wins 51% of the vote there, the Vice President won 48% of the vote there. That now brings Gillibrand to 246 electoral votes, the Vice President is at 215.

4:05 AM
In Florida, the home state of Charlie Crist, the Gillibrand/Crist ticket has won - 52% of the vote to the republicans 47%. That means that we have a projection to make:
Kristen Gillibrand elected President

8:01 AM
Although America has a new President-elect, we can tell you that Susanna Martinez has won the state of Ohio by just 30,000 votes. The Vice President also has carried Colorado, 50%-49%.

8:27 AM
The only state we did not call in this election was Nevada, we call it in the Democrats. Kristen Gillibrand has won Nevada by just over 25,000 votes.

10 AM - Martinez concedes election defeat

For the past eight years, you have stood with me as we have brought our country back. Along with President Christie, we've achieved historic, positive reforms over the past eight years. I hope all of you continue the fight for moving our nation forward" Martinez told supporters.

1 PM - Gillibrand accepts victory

ROCHESTER, NY - President-Elect Kristen Gillibrand spoke of her election victory. "We have won a historic victory because we brought a message of optimism to the American people. Over the next four years, I plan on working each and everyday with democrats and republicans, liberals and conservatives, people across this country to improve the lives of every single American. This election wasn't about me or the Vice President, it was always about the people of this country and our future. Today, fighting for a brighter future begins, but we need to keep fighting for the right kind of future for all of our people" Gillibrand stated.

White - Martinez 74% Gillibrand 25%

Surely you mean something like Martinez 60% Gillibrand 39%

If Martinez won 74% of the white vote, that would put her in landslide territory even thought Whites compose a smaller size of the electorate in 2014 when compared to today.  Especially when Martinez and Gillibrand split the Hispanic vote according to the exit polls.

Feb. 12, 2026 - Christie, Martinez differ in how they speak about Gillibrand administration
Former President Chris Christie and Former Vice President Susanna Martinez differ in their approach as to how they publicly spoke about the Gillibrand administration. Since leaving office in January 2025, Christie has remained in the public eye - giving speeches on economic and fiscal issues while working with his presidential library and foundation on charitable causes - namely fundraising for cancer and heart hospitals and food drives for the Salvation Army. Christie said he would speak out on general principles, but declined to critique his successor. Former Vice President Martinez, since losing the presidency to Gillibrand and leaving office in 2025, had initially praised Gillibrand for seeking to reduce the size of the federal workforce, but spoke out against the Gillibrand gun control measure, saying it's a state issue. Martinez, who has been teaching at University of New Mexico since leaving office, refused to rule out a 2028 presidential run.

March 2, 2026 - Gillibrand criticizes GOP for lack of action on gun control

WASHINGTON, DC - President Kristen Gillibrand criticized house republicans for their lack of support for her gun control measure. "The House Majority appears to care about about getting money from outside groups than the needs and desires of the American people" Gillibrand said.

WASHINGTON, DC - Despite being on the opposing ticket in the 2024 election, Senator Michael Grimm (R-NY) became the leading republican voice to support President Gillibrand's gun control legislation. "Folks like Ted Cruz and others are appealing to a small, fringe element in the GOP - the republicans need to sign on to this bill" Grimm told Fox News.

April 4, 2026 - Gillibrand moves on, signs energy tax credit bill into law

WASHINGTON, DC - After the failure of her gun control legislation, President Kristen Gillibrand got congress to pass a bill de-regulating the green energy sector and allowing grant money, through state government's, to encourage alternate sources of energy. The proposal would cost taxpayers $20 billion per year, but Gillibrand argued that the U.S. spends more than that to subsidize oil companies.

June 29, 2026 - Christie publishes memoir
MORRISTOWN, NJ - Former President Chris Christie had his memoir, entitled "My Story: From New Jersey to the White House." Christie spoke about his life and career in the book. Amongst the highlights, Christie reveals that:
- He knew as early as June of 2015 that he wanted either New Mexico's Susanna Martinez or Ohio's Rob Portman to be his running-mate in 2016.
- Christie didn't decide to run for President until March of 2015, two months before he announced his campaign.
- He credited Susanna Martinez with fighting to craft his immigration and education policies
- He said his most trusted advisors were Rudy Giuliani, who served as Secretary of State from 2017-2021, and Jeff Cheisa, who was his Attorney General from 2017-2021.
- Christie revealed that he always liked President Barack Obama on a personal level, but thought he was one of history's weakest leaders
- Christie said he felt his biggest accomplishments were his tax cut package, the reduction of the national debt accompanied by entitlement reform, and his education reform plan. He also said he was proud his administration did more than previous ones in preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon
- Christie said his biggest failure was not tackling energy independence
- Christie said that during the 2016 election, he was unsure if he would win because he felt Andrew Cuomo's selection of Kay Hagan for Vice President would give the democrats North Carolina, and Christie was unsure if he'd win in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
- Christie said that of all the democrats who ran for the presidential nomination in 2020, he believed Charlie Crist would be the toughest opponent. Christie said he expected to win by 10-12 points, but not 21.
- Christie revealed that although he campaigned for GOP Candidates, he had hoped Rand Paul would lose the 2022 election - which he did. Christie said Rand Paul and him never got along, though he respected Paul's principles.
- Christie said he was not suprised Kristen Gillibrand won in 2024 because he knew she was a maverick. He said Susanna Martinez underestimated Gillibrand and became overly confident. He also said Gillibrand's choice of Charlie Crist guaranteed Florida for the democrats, and Martinez should have gone to Ohio and Pennsylvania even more to make up for that. Christie said that he felt while Martinez was the best candidate, the democrats best candidate in '24 was Gillibrand, whom Christie felt was a bi-partisian senator.

November 5, 2026 - Democrats pick up net gain of 3 senate seats, 92 house seats
WASHINGTON, DC - The Democratic Party picked up 3 U.S. Senate Seats and 92 house seats. In the race to replace retiring Sen. Patrick McHenry defeated State Senate Minority Leader Janet Cowell to replace retiring Senator Kay Hagan.

As a Governor over the past three years, I've reduced state spending, but we haven't raised taxes or fees. As President, I have proposed an overhaul of our tax code. I believe that our tax code should be simple. If you make less than $250,000 per year, your income tax rate should be 8%, and you should be able to deduct an additional $10,000 per year on top of that. If you make above $250,000 then your tax rate will be 28%, and we ask for no more deductions in return. I've also proposed a 12%, across the board reduction in federal spending much like the one President Christie implemented. I've proposed de-regulating the energy sector to create energy independence" Rubio said.
