This is one of the better timelines I've seen as of late. Keep up the good work. How far are you planning to go in time with it?

Probably election night 2032.

I appreciate all the feedback, I really do!

January 5, 2018 - Mass. could feature race between Senator Elizabeth Warren, Tagg Romney

BOSTON, MA - Both the white house and GOP leaders in the U.S. Senate urged Tagg Romney, a businessman and the son of Treasury Secretary Mitt Romney, to challenge Elizabeth Warren for her U.S. Senate seat in 2018. Tagg joined a field of five other republicans seeking to challenge Warren. While Tagg says education and job creation are top issues, Senator Warren says that her goal will be to maintain a check on the Christie administration. Warren says she'll fight President Christie on education, the minimum wage, judicial appointments, and energy policy. Polling indicates that while Romney is the GOP front-runner, he'd lose to Warren by 12 percent if the election were held now.

January 22, 2018 - Christie outlines budget which would reduce federal spending by 12.5%

WASHINGTON, DC - President Chris Christie outlined a federal budget which would, for the first time in recent memory, cut federal spending. Christie proposed an across the board 7% cut in federal spending for every department of government excluding defense and veterans care. "The reality is, we now have $22 trillion in debt. If we spend the same as last year, we'll have a budget deficit of $1.4 trillion. If we do as I propose, we'll get that $1.4 trillion down to under $300 billion. In March, I plan on coming back to congress and proposing a plan to reduce our debt to $10 trillion by 2029 - that's where it was in 2009" the President stated.

January 23, 2018 - Durbin: Democrats see Christie budget as "unacceptable"
WASHINGTON, DC - Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin declared that President Chris Christie's budget proposal was "unacceptable" to senate and house democrats. "I speak for both the democrats in the senate and the house when I say this budget is unacceptable. By slashing federal spending by 12.5% across the board, the President is planning on automatically cutting food stamps, medicare to seniors, school lunches for poor kids, and funding for women's health care."

Christie responds to Durbin
WASHINGTON, DC - President Chris Christie responded to criticism of his budget plan by Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin. "If Senator Durbin hadn't voted to increase spending by literally trillions of dollars, we wouldn't have to clean up his mess. The fact of the matter is, yes, some services will be cut. We will be cutting $62.5 billion from medicare. 100% of that will be cut from seniors who made more than $95,000 at the time they began accepting medicare benefits. Poor seniors will not see their benefits cut by one penny. We are not cutting a penny from school lunch programs, we are only cutting departments, not programs. So, Senator Durbin is misleading the American public, but I guess he hasn't read my budget and therefore doesn't know any better" Christie stated.

Feb. 4, 2018 - Christie budget passes, is signed into law
WASHINGTON, DC - President Chris Christie's budget passed both houses of congress, with 9 democrats joining the 47 republicans in supporting the budget to help it pass 56-44. In the house, 20 democrats joined all 240 republicans in passing the budget, it passed 260-175. The budget slashed federal spending by 12.5% by cutting from all federal agencies with the exceptions of department of defense, veterans affairs, and education.

Feb. 7, 2018 - Beck to challenge Menendez in NJ

ASBURY PARK, NJ - State Senator Jennifer Beck declared she would challenge Senator Robert Menendez in the 2018 U.S. Senate election. "In Washington, I'll make sure we balance our budget, reduce taxes on working people, and fight to reduce fraud and waste in federal programs" Beck said at her kickoff rally. Beck joined a field of candidates which also includes fellow State Senator Diane Allen, Former Atlantic City Councilman Seth Grossman, and Jets Owner Woody Johnson.

March 1, 2018 - Christie proposes entitlement reforms, deficit reduction
WASHINGTON, DC - After working with House Speaker Marsha Blackburn for weeks, President Christie proposed a plan which he said would reduce the national debt from $22 trillion to $10.2 trillion by 2029. The plan called first for entitlement reform. The social security retirement age would be raised to 70, growth on incomes above $110,000 would be cut by 33%, an opt-out option would be available. Medicare growth would be slowed, and those with incomes above $125,000 or who retired with such an income would see their premiums increase by 10%. Medicare would become a voucher program. Medicaid would be returned back to states, with federal funding - which would save taxpayers $80 billion per year in compliance costs. Christie also announced he would reduce the size of the federal workforce by 25% by 2021, reduce farm subsidies to 2015 levels, and pass another across the board spending cut - this time 6.5%, in order to reduce the debt.

March 10, 2018 - Christie wins debt battle
WASHINGTON, DC - After nine days of negotiations between both parties, President Chris Christie got most of what he wanted in trying to reduce the national debt. After working with Speaker Marsha Blackburn, House Miniority Leader Chris Van Hollen, Senate Miniority Leader Pat Toomey, and Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin, the two parties came to an agreement. They agreed to pass Christie's reform to social security, his proposal for medicaid, and the 6.5% across the board budget cut for FY2019 - though they also said the federal workforce cut would take place over 4 years as opposed to 3, and medicare premiums on people with incomes over $125,000 would increase by 18% to avoid vouchering the program. Christie also agreed to reducing subsidies to big oil by a third to reduce the national debt. New projections showed the national debt would be reduced from $22 trillion to $10 trillion by 2030 as opposed to 2029. The bill passed the U.S. Senate 72-28, with 27 democrats and Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky opposing the plan. In the house, the proposal passed 390-45 with 40 house democrats and 5 republicans opposing.

April 4, 2018 - Giuliani: Iran guilty of more war crimes

WASHINGTON, DC - Secretary of State Rudy Giuliani stated that Iran was guilty of war crimes involving POWs. "In violation of the Geneva Conventions, Iran has abused more than 40 prisoners of war over the past 12 years. Most of these prisoners were Iraqi, though some came from European hikers - and we have intelligence to suggest than 7 were Americans" Giuliani stated. "All 7 of the Americans were returned to us, and this is a five year long investigation which has been kept secret, until now. The world can not turn a blind eye to violations of human rights" Giuliani added.

April 22, 2018 - Christie addresses nation on Iranian prisoner abuse

WASHINGTON, DC - President Chris Christie announced that he would push to have a special commission to examine U.S. foreign policy towards Iran in light of information announced by Secretary of State Rudy Giuliani about Iranian prisoner abuse. The commission, chaired by Former Senator Joe Lieberman and Former Secretary of State Condi Rice, would examine the future of U.S.-Iranian relationship.

May 1, 2018 - Rep. Jim Jordan announces U.S. Senate Bid

LEBANON, OH - Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio announced his intention to challenge Incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown in the 2018 election. "I'm running for U.S. Senate because Ohio needs a senator who believes in common sense, not one who votes with his party 98% of the time like Sherrod Brown" Jordan stated.

May 19, 2018 - Ford announces U.S. Senate run

NASHVILLE, TN - Former Congressman Harold Ford Jr., who lost a U.S. Senate race to Bob Corker in 2006, announced he would challenge Corker in 2018. "I want to emphasize that I'm running as a Christie Democrat. I agree with the President's policies on education, fiscal discipline, and even his foreign policy. I think the democratic party needs to stand with him on these issues. What separates me from the republicans is that I believe that we should raise the minimum wage, fight for women's health care, and cut taxes on the middle class as opposed to just millionaires" Ford stated.

June 1, 2018 - Christie announces new Iranian sactions
WASHINGTON, DC - After learning that Iran abused prisoners and was still enriching uranium, President Chris Christie announced he would seek a U.N. resolution sanctioning Iran until they allowed inspectors into the country to learn the truth about prisoner abuse, and about Iran's nuclear program. The step was the most aggressive step a U.S. President took.

Things can't be going well for Democrats if some are running as "Christie Democrats."

Christie stops enforcing Obamacare
.

Millions of policies are considered to be denied next year, because of pre-existing conditions. Republican Governors are backtracking Medicaid Expansion. Federal Exchanges collapse, many cannot afford a new insurance.

That's what I am thinking. Millions, if not tens of millions of policies would be canceled if an executive decision was made to ignore ACA.
If Christie can get away with this, his resources were probably better spent passing Bush's Social Security proposal.

"In Florida, I've brought both parties together to balance the budget, cut taxes, implement tough environmental protection laws, expand veteran's health care, and increase aid to our schools, we need leadership in Washington that can get things done." Terry McAuliffe told democrats that he was their best hope of winning in 2020. "I was elected Governor in a key swing state, and I can again carry Virginia along with other key swing states running as a Bill Clinton Democrat." Senator Al Franken said he would challenge President Christie on key social issues. "I'm pro-choice, I support affirmative action, I'm for reasonable gun control, and I support same-sex marriage. I'll challenge President Christie on these tough issues." Congressman Rush Holt of New Jersey sought to make the case he was the most progressive candidate. "I'll continue to be a progressive champion who advocates universal health care, cap and trade, and repeal of President Christie's tax cuts" he stated.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Days ahead of contests in Arizona and Florida, Democratic Presidential Hopeful Ed Markey went on the offensive, attacking fellow candidate Charlie Crist as a political opportunist. "Governor Crist would still be a republican if it hadn't been for Marco Rubio polling ahead of him in a republican primary. Charlie Crist still supports the Christie tax cuts, he still opposes a woman's right to choose, he still opposes a ban on assault weapons, and he still opposed President Obama's health care law in 2009, we need a democrat as our nominee for President, not a political flip-flop" Markey stated. Governor Crist responded to Senator Markey, stating that, "Senator Markey voted for higher taxes 432 times, he's supported nearly $2 trillion in new spending in the past five years alone, he's voted against bi-partisian immigration reform, and he's been called one of the senate's most liberal members. I'm a democrat, but I know the simple truth that with a record like Ed Markey's, we can't win in 2020."

We are now fighting to reduce the cost of health insurance and we'll continue to make sure workers have the skills they need going forward. Our opponent believes that increasing taxes and spending will grow our economy, that's why he's voted for higher taxes 425 times, and why he has supported $850 billion in new federal spending in this campaign already" the Vice President stated.

August 1, 2020 - Warren delivers DNC keynote

MILWAULKEE, WI - Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts delivered a keynote speech to delegates at the 2020 Democratic National Convention. "What has this administration done to fight poverty? Nothing. What have they done to advance the cause of stopping climate change? Nothing. What have they done to expand health care access? Nothing. We need a new course, and Ed Markey offers Americans a vision for the future where we'll raise the minimum wage, embrace energy alternatives, and expand health care access" Warren stated.

August 2, 2020 - Kaine accepts Democratic V.P. nomination

MILWAULKEE, WI - Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia accepted his party's nomination for Vice President. "For the past four years, this administration has ignored the need to curb gun violence, they've ignored the need to protect our environment, they've ignored the need to provide every child in America with quality health care, and they've ignored the need to fund No Child Left Behind. MILWAULKEE, WI - Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts accepted his party's presidential nomination at their convention in Milwaulkee, WI. "I'm running for President because I have the experience to lead this country. I fought hard in congress to expand health insurance to every child in poverty under SCHIP with Ted Kennedy and Orin Hatch. I fought on a bi-partisian basis to pass No Child Left Behind. I fought tooth and nail in congress to pass reasonable gun control during the Clinton administration. I've been fighting for the disadvantaged my entire career, and I have no intention of stopping now. I'll fight for greater access to health care, raising the minimum wage, cutting the payroll tax, and stronger alliances in the world" Markey told his fellow Democrats.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Senator Marco Rubio of Florida delivered a keynote address to delegates at the 2020 RNC. Yet, our opponents still are critical. Instead of believing in the free market as we do, they believe in government. That's why their nominee has voted against free trade, against tax relief, against regulatory reforms, and he's supported increasing taxes 425 times" Rubio stated.

August 15, 2020 - Vice President Martinez accepts re-election nomination

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Vice President Sussana Martinez accepted her party's nomination for a second term. "Over the past four years, President Christie and I have fought to create jobs, to protect our country's national security interests, and to promote a new era of bi-partisianship in Washington. While things haven't been perfect, our economy is stronger, our country is safer, and our people are prouder of their government than at any time in this generation. We've worked with republicans and democrats to lower taxes, reduce regulations, expand free trade, secure our border, and dismantle a failed health care policy. Our liberal, partisan opponents argue that we have failed. They seek to return to the same failed policies which were in place when we took over in 2017" Martinez stated.

August 16, 2020 - President Christie accepts re-election nomination

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - President Chris Christie accepted the nomination of his party for re-election as President. "Four years ago, you gave me the honor of a lifetime, to serve as President of the United States. Four years later, I again come to the American people, and humbly ask for your support again. Together, you and I have revived our nation's economy, we've protected the peace, and we've gotten things done on a bi-partisian basis for all of our citizens. But, there is more work to be done. While more people are able to find work today than they were four years ago, the cost of health insurance continues to rise, and while more Americans are seeing their incomes rise, the cost of fuel is unacceptably high. We have more work to do" the President stated.

September 1, 2020 - Despite early criticism, Bloomberg backs Christie's re-election

BOCA RATON, FL - President Chris Christie said health care reform will be a major issue in his second term if he is re-elected. "During our first term, the priority was to grow our economy. October 10, 2020 - Christie, Markey participate in first debate

CLEVELAND, OH - President Chris Christie and Democratic Challenger Ed Markey participated in their first presidential debate on domestic issues. Another term gives us the opportunity to continue to keep taxes low and regulations at a minimal, it enables us to fight to continue to reduce federal spending, and it also will enable us to fight to lower the cost of health care, make our country independent of foreign sources of energy, and we'll continue to see our economy grow" the President stated. "Under this administration, we've seen billions of dollars cut from women's health care, education, affordable housing, and the President gave a massive tax cut to the wealthy. In a Markey administration, our goals will be expanding affordable health care, raising the minimum wage, investing in education and green technology, and reversing the President's tax cuts for the wealthy" Ed Markey stated.

The choice in this election is between continuing to build on the results of the past four years, or to go back to where we were when our people couldn't find work as our national debt steadily increased" Vice President Martinez stated. "Senator Markey and I have proposed repealing the President's tax cuts for the rich and instead investing in education, health care, infrastructure, and green technologies. We've proposed raising the minimum wage, something this administration has opposed. The choice in this election is between one candidate who fights for the very well to do and another one who is fighting for you. If you believe that it's time to stand up for working people, than Ed Markey and I would be honored to have your vote" Senator Kaine stated.

"This administration and their neo-conservative allies in congress have skipped diplomacy in Iran, they've violated our civil liberties here at home, and they've ignored the United Nations. I think we need a President who is committed to a strong military, but also diplomacy and negotiation" Senator Markey stated.

Christieslide FTW! At least we have the upper hand coming into 2024... Just make sure that you can take our breath away with a good idea up your sleeve dudehere92. Grover Cleveland redeux could do the trick if it might get boring. Or maybe two former Presidents and the incumbent in an election maybe? Who knows, but this is definitely an interesting timeline dudehere. Smiley

No. Candidates don't win over 60% anymore.

We haven't had a really popular candidate running in a two-man election since 1984, where Reagan won 58%, so I'm not sure what you're going off of when you say "anymore". Anyways, this timeline is AWESOME! Keep it up!!
