Since at the time my ancestors were either in Canada or the Netherlands, neutral.  Of course, on my Canadian side I'd be rooting for you Yanks to realize after you'd beaten each other silly that you made a serious mistake during the tax revolt in the previous century and would return to the steady hand of the Empire.

With hindsight, the Union obviously, but I'm honest enough with myself to know that I'd probably* fight for whichever side I was born on/how my parents would have raised me in such a climate.  I was born in a Union state, but there was a lot of pro-slavery sentiment in my neck of the woods to go along with the active underground railroad and abolitionists.

*obviously it's impossible to say with any certainty no matter if you're honest with yourself or not

My family was in Canada and Georgia at the time, so either neutral or Confederate.

At that time, my only family members living here were in WV, so I'd be pro-Union.

Probably the Confederacy because Western Kentucky was pro-Confederate. Naturally, with hindsight and if I were transported back today, I'd be on the side of the Union and favor Radical Reconstruction.

Even though I've repeatedly pointed out the hypocrisy and widespread bigotry that existed in the North at the time, I would easily side with the Union.  As much flaws as the Union had they were multiplied in the Confederacy.  And although the war wasn't started to end slavery, by the end of it that became a primary goal.  And like TNF, I would probably support a more Radical Reconstruction that would've unlanded the landed slave owning aristocrats and divy up their lands among former slaves.  I know, according to the conservative/libertarian handbook it's unfair to seize the property of people.  Well, tell that to the millions the elites have unlanded throughout history.

Probably the Union, if not neutral.  At the time, my mother's family was still in Poland and my father's side was based mostly in New Jersey and New York.  In fact, it's possible I had ancestors who fought in the Civil War.

I voted neutral, but I agree with Dead0man.  It would depend upon factors such as where I live, how I earn a living, how my parents raised me, etc.

At the time all my ancestors were poor European White Trash who had not yet immigrated to the United States, and I doubt any of them could read or write well enough to know what wars were currently being waged, and were probably too busy scraping a living from the earth to care one way or the other, so I have to imagine that they were all neutral on the issue.
