Next weeks games to watch or follow
Monday, January 6
West Virginia @ Texas Tech (The Red Raiders are 7-2 at home, and could be an in-conference dark horse to knock of Oklahoma State)

Maryland @ Pittsburgh (Maryland only has the win over Boston College in ACC play, while Pittsburgh is 9-0 at home and could be ranked by the time this game is played)

Tuesday January 7

Georgia Tech @ #7 Duke

#9 Baylor @ #13 Iowa State (The Cyclones have had a career non-conference season, but now they meet their toughest test in a strong Baylor squad.)

St. Louis @ Rhode Island (How the Bilikens aren't ranked is beyond me)

Tennessee @ LSU

Kansas State @ TCU

#2 Syracuse @ Virginia Tech (Virginia Tech already has an ACC win against Miami, Syracuse is one of the power three in the ACC  (Duke, UNC, Syracuse) and a favorite to win the national title)

#3 Ohio State @ #5 Michigan State (Coming of the football team's win in the Rose Bowl, I'd go as far as to say the Spartans are the favorites)

NC State @ Notre Dame

Cincinnati @ Houston

Creighton @ Depaul (Why isn't Creighton ranked either?)

Wednesday, January 8

#11 Villanova @ Seton Hall (Kevin Willard has done a great job with this Seton Hall team)
#16 Kansas @ Oklahoma (Kansas is 1-2 on the road, Oklahoma is 7-1 at home... I smell an upset)

Georgetown @ Providence

Richmond @ St. Bonaventure

Ohio @ Kent State

Next Week's games to watch

Monday February 3

Notre Dame (11-10) @  #2 Syracuse (20-0) (Syracuse has their big game with Duke on Saturday, but no matter what happens, they should win here... Notre Dame does not seem ready for the ACC)

Xavier (15-5) @ #9 Villanova (18-2)

#16 Iowa State (15-4)@ #8 Oklahoma State (The Big Twelve is loaded this year and these teams conference records(Iowa State 3-4, Oklahoma State 3-4) summarizes that perfectly)

Tuesday, February 4

#6 Kansas (16-4) @ Baylor (13-7) (Baylor is ice cold, having currently five in a row and six of their last seven... and they'll likely add Oklahoma State to that loss tally on Saturday)

Ole Miss (14-6) @ #11 Kentucky (Missouri actually has a better record, and they're not ranked...)

#24 Ohio State (16-5) @ #15 Iowa (The Buckeyes are in frigid territory having dropped four of their last five)

Rutgers (8-13) @ #22 Memphis (16-4) (This could be a trap game for Memphis, they'll host Gonzaga on the 8th)

Chattanooga (14-9) @ Eastern Kentucky (15-7) (a rare non-conference team for both teams this time of year)

St. John's (12-9) @ Providence (15-6)

#25 Texas (16-4) @ TCU (9-10) (It's about time Texas got into the rankings, on the other hand TCU hasn't won a conference game yet)

Maryland (12-9) @ North Carolina (13-7) (The Tar Heels might need this win just to make the NIT's)

Georgia Tech (11-10) @ Clemson (13-6)

Missouri (16-4) @ #3 Florida (18-2) (Don't look now, but the Gators are making a case for the National Title)

#14 Wisconsin (17-4) @ Illinois (13-8) (Wisconsin has lost four of it's last five in the powerful Big Ten)

Wake Forest (14-7) @ #17 Duke (17-4)

Butler (12-9) @ Marquette (12-9) (It may be a new look Big East, but Butler isn't ready for it, they're 2-9 in conference play)

Wednesday February 5

Nebraska (11-9) @ #10 Michigan (15-4) (If you're unbeaten in a conference as strong as the Big Ten you're doing everything right, Michigan is that team)

#18 Pittsburgh (18-3) @ Miami (10-10)

#19 St. Louis (19-2) @ St. Joesph's (14-6) (The Billikens are one of the strongest mid-majors in the country)

La Salle (11-9) @ 21 UMass (17-3) (The Minutemen haven't had a season this good since John Calipari was coaching!)

#23 Oklahoma (17-4) @ West Virginia (12-9)

Duquesne (10-9) @ George Washington (17-3)

St. Bonaventure (13-8) @ Richmond (14-7)

Ohio (15-5) @ Western Michigan (11-8)

Tennessee (13-7) @ Vanderbilt (11-8)

#4 Wichita State (22-0) @ Indiana State (16-5) (This might be Wichita State's toughest remaining challenge before the conference tournament... Win this and they have a legit chance of being unbeaten heading into the Missouri Valley Tournament)

#12 Louisville (17-4) @ Houston (11-9)

UNLV (14-7) @ Colorado State (12-9)

Stanford (13-7) California (14-9)

Wyoming (13-7) @ New Mexico (16-4)

No, the three #1 seeds he means are obviously Arizona, Florida, and Wichita State. There aren't any other teams in the country that deserve a #1 seed, although one of them will have to get one.

Exactly, beside Syracuse totally bombing out, Kansas, Duke, Virginia, Wisconsin have all blown opportunities this week to lay claim to the 4th #1.   At this point, Villanova is the most likely #1, and really if you could pretend that Creighton was still in the Valley, then their record would be exceptional.  Of course, they might face Creighton again in the conference tourney, which would be the make or break.

Nova provisionally is probably the fourth 1 seed right now but I'd imagine the winner of the acc tourney (if cuse, UVA, or duke) would snag it away.

As for cuse there's a big difference when Jerami Grant is in the lineup and when he isn't. The 25 gane start and win over fsu shows that.

Looking at the bracketology above I have to chuckle. Unc a 14 seed? Stony brook a 7? Pitt a14 for starters? Not how it's done folks.

I can't see Florida or Arizona not being number 1 seeds, so really you're down to like 7 or so teams for one overall number 1 seed: Michigan, Wisconsin, Kansas, Duke, Virginia, Louisville, Syracuse.  In that order...obvious both Mich and Wisco won't both be in play on selection night, same for Duke/UVA/Cuse.
