Far too arbitrary. No definition of documentation and thus it would be defined by the Registrary most likely as to what did and did not count on a case by case basis. This would essential give the Registrar a blank check to dismantle a party on a bureaucratic whim, without any uniform, set standard involved.

I agree with Yankee.  I don't want the power to decide which parties are "organized".  This will only lead to the RG being accused of making partisan decisions.

What if we simplify it to a party that has a platform, by-laws, and scheduled conventions?

Amendment is hostile. Three people is not a political party.

Major parties should be 10 members or more. The idea that anything less is a major party is a bit silly. Parties are created to organize ideas and win elections, and you cannot win an election with 3 people or even 5 people.

I agree with the idea of 3 people not being a party. 5 I think is passable.

Well, any takers at this point with PJ's proposal?

If not, then is a final vote desired once again?

At this point I don't think passing this bill is productive. I'm ready for a final vote and would encourage the Senate to vote it down.

This has enough votes to fail, Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.

It's crazy that it only takes 3 voters to make up a party, but oh well.

Parties are little more than a name until the members make it something. I'd rather give small groups a chance than not. It's not vital that parties be good, large, or elect people. If you have a group of individuals who share a common ideology, organize. It's no skin off my bones.

In hindsight, I regret not having a discussion on PJ's final proposal - things are picking up for me (as I'm sure with a couple others) in school with finals just a few weeks away, and I'm currently in a battle with some professors to maintain my GPA. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to address his proposal before a final vote, but I would hope to get at least a bit of input before this thread is officially dead. I personally don't think the status quo should continue, and judging by comments made in this thread, it looks like a solid majority agree.

Personally, I am receptive to the idea - in this game, it might be better to have a party be judged by it's content and commitment, rather than simple numbers. I would be open to hearing arguments to that, of course.
