in his memoir chafee admits to considering an anti-war challenge to bush in the 2004 nh primary.

how well would he have done in nh?

Republicans were still very pro-war, and Bush hadn't really offended the moderate wing of the Republican party too much at that point.

I agree with this. It'd be generous to give Chafee 15-20%, and if I had to bet money on it, I'd give him 12% of the vote.

That would've been really funny. Chaffee is more of a mid-20th century Republican than a 21st century Republican.
