Abbott 50
Davis 35

Dominating. It's not surprising to see Davis's contempt for the people of Texas and their values showing up in this poll.

You know you are in a bad place when even PPP and Miles can't spin like a washing machine.

This was clearly going to be the trajectory. Filibusters on abortion aren't going to be popular in Texas. I'm surprised so many Democrats here thought this was possible.

Their next best hope for them is some loon like Larry Kilgore wins the nod.

So now, we don't have to worry about any possible upset here. That's all it would be.

Hmmm...I always said it I was a bad idea for Davis to run for Governor and that she should go for State Senate again.

I always said she had poor chances in this race, though some posters here want to assign me a position otherwise.

That was one of the tidbits that the OP forgot to mention for some reason. Running on such a divisive issue is bad, but the electorate isn't as lopsided as I thought; 41% oppose the law, 40% support it.

Dewhurst also leads 46-37 against the Democrat running against him, Leticia Van de Putte, but he may need to be more worried about the primary.

That's TX we are talking about ...

Abbott could throw a couple of kids into the Gulf of Mexico and he'd still win.

Interesting theory. Abbott is partially paralyzed.

That's the only thing making it an unlikely scenario?

Ann Richardson was a southerner who attracted crossover voters. Wendy Davis  can only maximize her base. Not enough in the Deep South.

The last Dem gov of TX. She served '91-'95.

This poll is much more what I was expecting.
