1824. After Clinton surrogates failed at the first ever caucus of the National Party, the organization became split roughly even between two different camps: those supporting Vice President and former Chief Executive John Quincy Adams, and those supporting Speaker of the House Henry Clay. While the vote was close, Adams, who many in the party felt deserved another shot at a full term after his years of service to the nation, was nominated. In order to ensure appeal outside New England for the party's first election, former Representative William Henry Harrison of Ohio, whose reputation in frontier politics rivaled that of William Clark's, was nominated for Vice President. The Republicans, on the other hand, turned their eyes away from the West for the time being. As opposed to nominating Clark or Jackson, experienced New York political operator Martin Van Buren was given the nod. Dubbed "The Little Magician" for his political acumen, the party is instead hoping to concentrate on large states such as New York and Pennsylvania for support, seeing as relying on only the South and West hasn't been a winning recipe in recent years. Van Buren brings with him ties to immigrants and thus appeal to them, experience in local and national politics including years fighting the Clinton machine in New York, and a consistent loyalty to Republican principles. For Vice President, experienced and respected Senator William H. Crawford of Georgia was nominated.

Three days.

Adams reluctantly, because at least he isn't out for just a personal trophy.

Van Buren was basically the definition of a slimy politician who just wanted attention Wink

BTW Cathcon, now that we found the main thread, are you going to do the maps?  If not, can I volunteer to make some for the ones missing the maps? Wink

With college & pledging a Fraternity, I'm busy a lot, & the best time I have to work on maps is at work, & there are sadly people there.

I've got Mr. Dallasfan65 on the task, however.

Guess this is over with. If I had my laptop out & I didn't have something called a room mate, I'd try to set y'all up with 1828. Guess its better that it wait for tomorrow anyway. In other news, JQA has finally won ejectin in his own right, though Van Buren's organization was harder to beat than expected.
