24 hours for the Sponsor and once again I want the other Former President involved with this.

Three Education Bills, Three needing new sponsors. It is a cursed issue indeed. Evil

I'd be fine with specifying how we use the current funding, but I am extremely reluctant to tack on more education funding when we already have so much at both the federal and regional level. I also question whether clause 2 and 3 should be handled at the federal level. Section 4 and 5 look good to me, though.

I'll hold off on introducing an amendment until Napoleon or Polnut speaks on this. Smiley Hopefully they will be able to address some of my concerns.

I think people are missing some of the intentions...

1. If the Federal Government is going to provide additional funds, they they are well within their rights to ensure a degree of uniformity across the country. People don't stay in one region all their lives and to have children competitive in any way requires more harmonised educational expectations.

2. The purpose of the ACR is to place more responsibility on the students and their parents if they wish to leave school before graduation. This is not designed to encourage them to leave, it is to make sure that students who are determined to leave, have to complete a number of requirements and have that reflected through a qualification.

If we could use funds already designated for education to carry out this task, I would support that as a compromise. I still don't understand the need for additional funds when so much is already available.

If the regions are prepared to do it without the money, even better.

I take it you've completely abandoned the advocacy requirement at this point, Yankee?

No, but it was pointless as long as the next four bills were all from the same sponsor. Which is why I discouraged Maxwell from seconding my motion a week or two ago. This is also Polnut's bill as well which is on my mind.

I can still enforce it at any point mind you that the bill is on the floor as could any other Senator, but the primary purpose is never the advocacy anyway but to make sure they are there for procedural motions and such. The advocacy is a fringe benefit so to speak.

I'm kind of curious to know the intentions behind TNF's amendments.

Not that it seems to matter at this point, but it worries me that we're not doing anything about kids who drop out.

I don't think that adding another tier to our education system in the way of adding another, separate degree, is worth it. Ideally I'd like to see the GED replaced by a regular high school diploma, with those kids who can test out early being able to do so and find regular employment. If you want to help kids who want to drop out, make the test harder and make it equivalent to a high school diploma so that they can get a good job after dropping out, as well as create more good paying entry-level jobs.

Affirmative.

The main reason is that physical education, which should be more than glorified recess, is mentioned here and is a priority of mine. But the amendment also adds other areas that I view as valuable.
