As I previously predicted,  the Tea Party will cost the Republicans at least 2 Senate seats again in 2014

Bringing her back into the spotlight was one of the unexpected dividends of the shutdown.

So McConnell, Graham, Alexander and Cochran are all on the chopping block?

Well, by the end of this year, the Republicans will have managed to lose the Virginia governor's mansion despite the 30+ year precedent of electing the party opposite the president's; they will have managed to lose the NYC mayoral race to the most liberal Democrat since John Lindsay; and they will have failed to elect a Republican senator in New Jersey, something they haven't been able to do since Clifford Case.

Keep going, Tea Party. Yer doin' a heckuva job!

All those Pub senators are safe, though I do think they should eventually have viable conservative (and none of the clowns in those primaries fit said criteria) successors. That said, I agree with Bushie.

Tell that to Lisa Murkowski and Mike Castle.

Yep, yeah, there's so many examples. Senators Angle, Buck, O'Donnell, Akin, Mourdock, Governor Paladino, and Rep. Kelly and Rep. Zaun. For that measure, Senators Mack and Smith (better choices scared off by Tea Party) and Senators Thompson and Berg (collateral damage) probably fall into that category as well.

How the  is Berg collateral damage? He won his primary very convincingly, but he was an utter robot. This is one of those few situations where a tea partier may have actually been a better choice, since they would've waken up GOP voters, instead of putting them to sleep by being an establishment cog.

Should've clarified - Berg was at least damaged by association. Duane Sand was a more Tea Party candidate, but Berg was forced (at least a bit) to the right in his primary.

I guess you can argue that the tea party movement did gain republican seats in 2010, and without that movement, it would've never happened. But now, the tea party is unpopular, they dictate the primaries and pick candidates which have cost republican seats that actually could've been won. Maybe they'll run good tea party candidates this time and be able to pick up seats because of it. But based on the past, I'm very concerned on what they're going to be doing, and possibly costing republicans seats once again.

That wouldn't hurt him in North Dakota. At least in Nebraska, the most right-wing candidate won, and still demolished Bob Kerrey. It was the fact that Rick Berg was a droll and boring candidate. Perhaps more credit for his loss goes to his opponent, Heidi Heitkamp, who is one of the strongest possible candidates in that area. Either way, I think including Rick Berg in the tea party causalities is a road too far.

LOL.  This is why I love the Tea Party.  PLEASE keep doing what you're doing.  Please primary out whichever Republican senators you don't like.

We've already seen the Tea Party flush away GOP control of the Senate. It's about time they work their magic with hard right challengers in the House!

Sarah Palin is a big part of why so many Torie-type Republicans (ie rich people) voted and donated to Obama in 2008.

I second that! Tongue

Even if they can primary McConnell, Graham, Alexander, Collins, or hell maybe even Capito and Rounds, you can better believe the Democrats would capitalize on a lot of those Senate seats. Democrats could even contest Wyoming under the circumstance that Enzi is primaried by the Tea Party and Freudenthal makes a run against Cheney.

The failure of the teabaggers to primary Collins is really disappointing. The Maine GOP is full of hard-right nutjobs. They could totally pull it off!
