Can't wait to see how the GOP vote broke down in the house. I feel like it'll mainly be NY+NJ+Eastern PA+Some endangered incumbents and a few neo cons vs. most everyone else.

About time this silly nonsense is over. Surprised Dean Heller voted against it.

For a while, Dean Heller seemed to understand he represents a purple state and was voting like one; apparently he forgot today. So did Pat Toomey, who had been behaving so well up to this point.

Unexpected "Yea" Votes: Jerry Moran and Deb Fischer, both of whom went from being Tea Party warriors on the campaign trail to churchmouse-quiet backbenchers in the Senate.

Unexpected "Nay" Votes: Richard Shelby, because you'd think someone with that much experience would know better.

All four Arkansas Republicans voted yes, as did all three from Nebraska. Every single Washington congressperson also voted yea. On the other hand, every single Texas Republican voted against, as did every GOPer from Missouri, Tennessee and Georgia.

Really annoyed, though not surprised, that my Rep voted No. (Kenny Marchant, TX-24) I guess they wanted to "stand with Cruz" or something humiliating like that.

He represents the DFW suburbs. He may have wanted to "stand with Cruz" but he likely also wanted to "keep his job." Same thing with Kay Granger, who is on the not-entirely-nuts end of the Texas Republican delegation.

Aaaand it passes 285-144.

I actually thought a majority of House Republicans would vote for this.  Silly me.

Why did you think that?  The last few times we've had votes like this, the Hastert rule was broken, so it being broken again doesn't surprise me in the least.

Weird how Arkansas is the only state in the Deep South whose state GOP is not completely Tea Party-dominated...

Has to be Hillary Clinton's 2016 coattails.  They're so powerful, that they reverberate back in time to 2013.

She would but she already announced she's retiring so she likely disregarded the electoral consequences of her actions even moreso than before.

Yay for sanity prevailing.  Apparently we have at least 144 Representatives who are incredibly dumb.

Very surprised my representative Gregg Harper voted Yes -- he was with the Mississippi veterans who broke into the WWII memorial and blamed the shutdown 100% on Obama.

Jeff Denham, Steve Southerland, and Thomas Reed all stand out. The DCCC shouldn't let up on the attacks on those 3.

Also, props to the Washington delegation for being sane.

Michele Bachmann (MN-6) voted nay.  The other 7 voted aye.

Erik Paulsen (GOP-MN3) and John Kline (GOP-MN2) voted aye.  Kline is a strong ally of John Boehner.  Neither district is safe for the GOP, so this vote was definitely strategic.  I have a fool's hope that the DFL can pick one of them off next fall.  Almost definitely won't happen.. but one can dream.

And who knows.. if MN6 nominates Tom Emmer maybe he'll gaffe himself enough that the DFL can just call him "Bachmann redux".
