In case you were wondering what Rick Santorum was up to these days, he has a new day job down in Texas. He's running a Dallas-based Christian film studio whose backers include a Japanese man whose past productions include anime films featuring bondage and lesbian sex (just read the article).

Fantastic thread title. You're gonna get a lot of pushback from the usual suspects about it, but don't listen to them.

Even if you're going to go ahead and equate Nazism with social conservatism, the title still seems to be a stretch unless you're suggesting Santorum will be as successful in his film career as Riefenstahl was in the 1930s.

Yeah.  No matter what one thinks of Leni's political faults, and they were many.  She was a talented filmmaker both creatively and technically.  When it comes to his ability as a filmmaker, I suspect Rick would be more like Kim Jong-il than like Reni.

He could be the next Eisenstein for all we know.

Does that make Dinesh D'Souza Coleman Francis?

Alan Smithee is one the unrecognized greats of Hollywood.  He's able to work in a wide variety of styles and genres.  Alas that flexibility combined with his reclusiveness (he never does publicity for his multivarious films) lead him to being underappreciated compared to directors who have one distinctive style they are known for.

The Rick Santorum ‘Make-a-Movie’

Steve/Joshua/Eli is a 34 year old war veteran/doctor/football star who is suffering from depression/alcoholism/drug addiction and has seen his life spiral into decline. His wife Carol/Amy/Mary a homemaker/stay at home mom/homeschooler urges him to seek help. While at church/mass/after church event, his wife prays for help and speaks to the priest/minister/pastor for guidance. Meanwhile her husband is too busy spending time with his buddy Abdul/Jose/Gaylord drinking and reading Harry Potter/Richard Dawkins/The Koran. His buddy has no concern for him and encourages his rampant behaviour. Steve/Joshua/Eli breaks down. Meanwhile at the local school a Muslim/homosexual/woman takes children hostage during the production of The Nativity/Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat/Dinesh! A Very D’Souza Musical.

Steve/Joshua/Eli hearing of the disturbance and his families prayers for him, bursts into the auditorium and disarms the hostage taker using his army training/administering a sedative/kicking abilities and frees the children. He is a national hero. He goes to his wife for a loving kiss on the cheek/heterosexual handshake/side hug and thanks God.

The End.

Santorum has a whole bookcase of pre-made screenplays in his office that he fills in Mad Libs-style.

Riefenstahl was incredibly talented, you've just insulted her.
