ReiNCe PRieBuS currently holding some sort of press conference in front of the WW2 memorial for some reason.

The Republicans' angle this afternoon is that Obama is putting his selfish interest in Obamacare over the needs of our veterans to visit their monument.

Considering the median age for the Republican base is somewhere between Greatest Generation and the Baby Boom, it's not the stupidest angle for them to push.

De Facto GOP Leader Ted Cruz warns that the government shutdown - which he helped cause - could leave us vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

"We're not going to be disrespected," conservative Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., added. "We have to get something out of this. And I don't know what that even is."

Seems like Obama/Reid strategy is to create pain so then pressure builds up to GOP and then break them.  I think Obama meeting with Wall Street tycoons talking about the fact that debt ceiling will be a disaster if not raised.  Of course thes same investment banks are preparing trades that will make money from this crisis even as they cry at this photo-op that this will hurt the economy.  This had to be done since monday and tuesday did not really see the market falling so there is no "real" pain to inflict.  What would be needed is something like thet Sept 2008 fall which pressured Congress to pass TARP.  Yesterday this plan seems to be moving ahead as the S&P fell over 1%.  Today the market is bouncing back and earsing a lot of the losses from yesterday.  Expect more Obama discussions on what a disaster this is and that Wall Street prices should reflect that.

Not to pile on or anything, but you know, the GOP has crossed the line into blatant thuggery with this. Let's not forget that back in 2009 and 2010 they declared any meaningful healthcare reform to be D.O.A. and walked out, then blamed Obama for locking them out. They opted for the status quo of pre-existing conditions and caps on how much you could be covered. Unfortunately, who's held hostage once again by the GOP are the underemployed and the unemployed, who are going to have to come up with something. The GOP really is interested in just creating another crisis so they can tell the uneducated and gullible how government does not work. Truly revolting of them.

He needs to woo the House Republicans right now, not Chris Christie.

New ad compares John Boehner to wailing baby.

This is pretty much why I decided to turn off the news for at least a few days and just use the forum and Facebook for news updates.  I'm sick of the crybaby marathon these clowns are putting on.

Is the NSA still trying to find  my phone records and facial book account info?  Is that "essential" ?

Yes Grumps, of course that is essential. We're all dying to know here and got the NSA working hard for us.

Boehner should just let them vote! it seems like they are giving up on Obamacare...now they are moving onto the piecemeal bills, which will get rejected and rejected. I say the GOP will finally cave next week, we will not default also.

Its safe to say the GOP is finished in 2014 after this stunt.

NRCC Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) flat out admits what we all knew already:

“Listen,” Walden said, according to several people present. “We have to do this because of the Tea Party. If we don’t, these guys are going to get primaried and they are going to lose their primary.”

Animal watch groups worry the entire shutdown was orchestrated to enable the former speaker [Newt Gingrich] to steal a panda.

One of Darrell Issa's trolling lawsuits against AG Eric Holder is now on hold because of the shutdown. He asked for an exemption, but there's no one to do the work.

Yet the Tea Party Republicans aren't going to face any political danger from this.  Their districts are so safe, that the only Republicans that could face political backlash are the ones who're more likely to hold a different view on this.
