Absolutely.  We need to change our culture like we did with smoking -- there was a time when almost everyone thought that smoking was "cool," but nowadays smoking is almost universally loathed by people who don't smoke.

Similarly, we need to make it a cultural norm that if you are sexually active, you are on birth control at all times, unless you are specifically trying to have a child. No exceptions.  It would help if we could develop a birth control pill for men so that both sexes would share this responsibility.

I wouldn't go that far but I'm glad you like the idea of helping the less fortunate. I'm sure a pill for men could be developed without the government running up more debt. If someone doesn't want birth control then we shouldn't have to have anything to do with it. However, for low income women over the age of 18, we should be providing some form of limited assistance in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies and limit abortions.

Make it all free and distribute it in schools.

So Obama supporters want the government to pay for our children to have sex without us knowing? I'm sure Obama would be proud.

It would probably be a lot more cost effective to do that than pay for the Medicaid, SNAP, and other government programs that'd be used by someone who got pregnant by a loser their senior year.

Completely agree with you, I don't know why some people (Rick Santorum) are so against the use of contraceptives, especially when it reduces the abortion rate.

Rick Santorum is actually just one person; no need to refer to him using the royal plural.

Being against the use of contraceptives in principle is one thing but there's not harm in making it available for those who can't afford it as long as they're over the age of 18. When it comes to minors, I don't think we need the government paying for our children to have sex without us knowing.

No, providing protection so that those who are underage who do have sex won't get pregnant or infected with STDs.

So you want the U.S. government to sponsor underage sex? I'm fine with teaching about contraceptives in health class and providing them at clinics. Both abstinence and contraceptives should be at the foundation of our health curriculum.
