It's not all that uncommon in the US and/or suburbia/exurbia in general, and I wager it's probably the norm if you live in some sh**thole exurb of Oklahoma City. Those places definitely seem like they're unreachable by public transit, because public transit in OK City must be horrible.

My neighbors own three/four cars, for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Of course, neither of the adults are unemployed bums/manchilds with $11,000 credit card debt.

Bushie can't afford his car, but he can't afford much of his current lifestyle anyways.

The most interesting part about it is her photos of her as a child with her family compared to her as an adult with her family.  Neither her nor her parents/relatives were even fat much less obese in those 1980s snapshots.  Now they're all morbid.  Clearly an indictment of the last three decades wrath against our nation's poor and middle class.

Yes, this is correct. His palette is the problem.

It's self-control more than anything. As someone who probably doesn't eat much better than Bushie in terms of quality and has a child-like palette, I can vouch that the key to avoiding obesity is to not eat three times as much of said fats and sugars as what would be considered "normal" by American standards. Even if his palette somehow became refined, I have no doubt at this point that he'd just consume dozens and dozens of grams of healthy fats and sugars, and thousands of calories in each sitting.

If it makes you feel any better, my parents were fat in the 1980s. My grandparents got divorced in the 1950s. My family is so ahead of its time!
