Just a thought experiment. Imagine for whatever reason he's sitting across from you and you have a loaded gun.

He deserves to linger away in jail for the rest of his life.  Murder is far too merciful.

I'd prefer to arrest him but if killing him was the only option, yes.

I honestly don't know. Shooting him would definitely be the best decision in view of the greater good, but definitely not the right decision, and I don't think I would ever be able to end a life.

Is there a sizeable bounty on his head?

Maybe we could wound him just a little... as a compromise, you know.

Yes.

He would use his trial as a political tribune.

What are my choices? If I don't shoot him, does he go back to being leader? Or can I arrest him?

If the former, I would shoot him, because killing him would save more lives than not.

No, though if I were a citizen of Syria my answer would be yes.

No. I am not Syrian, so it is not my business. I honestly have had a relatively good opinion of him (as far as tyrants go) up until 2011, so it still is kind of hard for me to hate him in the way I hated Qaddafi, Kim Jong Ill, etc.

He has a right to say what he wants at his trial, no matter how wrong it may be.

If the Ba'ath regime falls, the FSA will turn on itself even more violently. Two sides not violent enough? How about ten sides?

And what I have accomplish by killing the man who's simply going to be replaced by another regime figure, quite possibly even worse?

Note the question asks if you'd be willing. Because yes, I'd be very willing to.

But....

And what I have accomplish by killing the man who's simply going to be replaced by another regime figure, quite possibly even worse?

How much worse could his replacement be? Though I agree with you that it wouldn't change much of anything. I'd still probably kill the bastard though.

Of course not, unless for some reason I would know who his successor would be.
No, in fact I strongly prefer him to the alternative.
