He gets a ton more freebies than my mom would give me if I laid around her house all day long. She's not even remotely that strict or tough of a mother, but she wouldn't have any of this Bushie nonsense. Ain't nobody got time for that!

     I don't even follow the Update threads and I can think of a few things that would contradict that impression.

He makes odd and entertaining decisions and reasons for doing things - or rather not doing things - throughout his adventures, which is difficult not to poke some friendly fun at. The real shunning comes from the wealthy hogs who resent him for his faith, trust in family and incompatibility (both personal and economical) with the university -> toil -> grave process.

Opebo doesn't make fun of people.  He makes obvious of people.
