Yes, a big welcome and a toast to the new members!

Also, I have reviewed the platform and I think it is spot on. A bold progressive social agenda with a mainstream progressive economic plan - nothing wild-eyed there. Nice job, guys! I like the bit about science and the approach to faith as a private matter, so things are off and running, I think.

I'd like to propose a couple more planks to the platform:

Will the platform replace what is currently in intro to Atlasia?

Yeah, especially as I don't think we ever officially ratified that one.

Awesome! Keep it rolling. A welcome to the newbies and a big welcome to Spamage.

One thought I had about the platform is that I like that it's not in super specific manifesto format. I think we want as big a tent as we can support, and what you guys are putting together does that. We're an open-minded mainstream center center-left party, so it looks great. I don't think we're as much about having everybody lockstep on some sort of mission as we are accepting people who want to participate and have something in common with us.

As in PRO HQ or Atlas Fantasy Elections?

Here we are currently debating our platform in the convention thread here:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=180398.0

If you read the Atlas Fantasy Government and Regional Government boards, so you can see some of the important issues.

As someone who hasn't been the best of friends with your kind over the years, can you guys explain to me why some among your number oppose the tradition of loonyism that has pervaded the Midwest since its inception, as well as the inclusion of a jolt of fun into the Pacific Region that made this game more fun that it had been in a while? Are you guys attempting to be the Serious People Party?

Why not? Why should we preserve something that adds nothing to the game? I'm not going to make the Midwest extra serious, I'm just going to replace our current loonyism with my kind of loonyism, as long as that loonyism actually serves a concrete purpose. Besides, this is my personal initiative, it has nothing to do with the platform of the party.

Why have you not been the best of friends with "our kind"?

To answer, I'm not sure what loonyism brings to the table. For example, there are Very Serious Laborites - in the Senate - who write Very Serious Legislation. Yet in some sort of ivory tower disconnect they endorse loonyism. what if the Senate were shut down as the Pacific had been? Or if an Acting President wrote asinine rewrites of their bills, referencing all sorts of nonsense and turning the bills upside down? That would be loony! No, it would be childish.

I think loonyism exposes a bigger problem than inactivity: that some folks endorse people, not ideas, and not actions. Just people.

The fact is, the vast majority of folks here like to write legislation and see if they can get their peers to help pass it. That's kind of the point, and loonyism does nothing more than disrupt it.

I not sure how I feel about that "your kind" statement, but setting that aside, "loonyism" has it place, I also believe that "serious" legislation and legislatures are fun and needed from time to time. I feel that some of the loonyism leads to outrageous over the top attacks on each other that do absolutely nothing for anyone but make us mad.
