Having read half your first link, what Leavis said seems pretty right to me. Snow's original point seems... unrelated ... so far though (and much less interesting, though not necessarily wrong. Also, very befitting the man).

The Commentary on C.P. Snow's essay since it has been written has been the most awful dribble... so, while I can't really support such a miserablist reactionary like Leavis, I can't help but support anyone who wanted to throw that essay to the flames.

Actually, having read Al's first link, what Leavis said seems to me more like one long histrionic ad hominem that doesn't really ever even try to address Snow's original point.
