Like with the killing of that Chris Lane, the vocal minority of awful racists seems to be screaming about this and trying to draw comparisons to the murder of Trayvon Martin (which is utterly stupid, given that the killers in both of these murders have been apprehended). I expect that, because it's sensational and gets attention from the 15% or so of disgusting racists in America, pretty much every black-on-white killing from now on is going to be reported.

For the record, this man's killing is reprehensible and I hope his killers are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It's clear, however, that like the four Americans killed last year in Benghazi (don't hear much about the dozens of embassy deaths under Bush and Reagan) and the slaying of Chris Lane (also a reprehensible murder), the NSGOP doesn't actually care about people dying and only uses these stories as weapons in their never-ending war against racial equality, civility, and general sanity.

A decades long sentence won't bring that guy back.  16 year olds do some very stupid things.  But I think what they need is rehabilitation... not kneejerk reaction punishment.  Society would be better served if they were put away for 10 years and then re-integrated back into the community.

What these kids need is structure, maturity, and an opportunity to build sympathy and empathy for others.  Not decades-long rotting in a cell for something incredibly stupid they did when they were 16 and not thinking about what they were doing.

I know that's not the popular stance, but I think it's the best one.

As was the skin color of my white step uncle, who was shot to death in his own home by two black teenagers. A white man being killed by black men is not the issue; it is a father and husband being killed by two teenagers that is.

Everything is now a race issue, sadly. While the Trayvon Martin trial was a legitimate racial issue, the hyper racialization of every black on white and white on black crime as a result of the the trial has accelerated, and is counterproductive for domestic tranquility.

And re-integrating them back into society and chalking it down to "doing stupid things" won't atone for this man's death. 16 year olds do stupid things, I'd know. I'm one of them. But these "kids", and I use that term loosely, committed a man's crime. They deserve a man's punishment. How about we re-habilitation them in prison, with say, a 30-45 year sentence.

What this comes down to is a nigga doing something stupid, and racists trying to compare it to things that theres no similarity too. They didn't target him because he was white. Thye targeted him because they were idiots with nothing better to do.
