Assange, like many outside observers of US politics, is a tad out of the loop on the diversity of the actual electorate's views. What more he has a very narrow agenda when it comes to the US, which Rand Paul fits well with, but ignores the rest of the Paul political package. So things like economics, civil rights, education, and all that are kind of being ignored in this case.

Are Assange's views on those other issues even known, though? I'm not convinced he has strong opinions on other issues.

I actually want to see Assange successfully elected to the Australian Senate, just to see what would happen. It's not like the Coalition is going to get a majority anyway; might as well have interesting leftists instead of bland hacks.

Indeed. We shouldn't have to cut off our legs to save our arm. And besides, Assange missed the part where sen. Paul thought it was ok to use drones to take out liquor store robbers. I highly suspect Paul is a liar who is riding his dad's uber libertarian coat tails to power and doesn't actually stand for much of anything else. He's a fair weather friend to some on a few issues and you'd be a fool to trust him.
