I live in Bergen County NJ. I have been to every county except Warren, Somerset, Union, Burlington, Gloucester, Camden, Salem, and Cumberland.

I have visited Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida on several occasions. I won't go into the counties on these because I don't quite remember each town or county that I have ever set foot in.

I have driven through Delaware, DC, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Edited to reflect a childhood train trip on the Texas Eagle between Dallas and Chicago in 1962, increasing AR by a visit (without stops) and the county total to 1957.

The lower Mississippi states are on the agenda for the week of the 4th of July. It will include my first overnight stay in AR.

Red for residences. Dark blue for overnight stay. Light blue for intentional destinations. Green for drive through (including meal stops).

Here's the state level view.

Next destinations will hopefully be the Southwest, Alaska, or Oregon. Any recommendations?

National Parks are nice. My dad and I made a loop out of Great Basin NP, the five Utah Parks, Mesa Verde NP, and the Grand Canyon. Up towards Oregon, there's Lassen Volcanic NP and Lava Beds NM along with Crater Lake NP (the only one of those three that's actually in Oregon). Never been to Alaska.

Visit Bend and Sisters, Oregon. Stop at Mount Bachelor or Mount Hood if you have a chance. Crater Lake is also worth visiting.

I've made it to New Orleans along with my first overnight stay in AR. That increases MS, AR and LA by a visit and brings me up to 1980 counties. I should break 2000 by the time I get home again.

Red for residences. Dark blue for overnight stay. Light blue for intentional destinations. Green for drive through (including meal stops). Yellow for train, boat or airport only.

Here's the state level view.

40% (2 visits): LA, NM, OR

If blue, then all counties have been visited in the state

Edited to reflect the return trip as well. The total number of counties is 2020.

Muon, you've gotta get to Far West Texas. One of my favorite parts of this country. I have a thousand detailed suggestions for a 3-7 day itinerary around the Big Bend region.

I'm looking at a trip to Austin and the central TX hill country this winter. I don't think I can stretch as far as Big Bend in the next year, as much as I'd love to.

Nice work; how far in the future is future visits? As an aside, I'll note that my 25 year old daughter just passed you this week (total, but not overnight). Tomorrow I'll get county number 2000. Cheesy

Update: Number 2000 was Lawrence MS.

Definitely go to Pedernales Falls state park, in Blanco County.

Light blue-green is airport only. San Juan, WA is a mistake.

Oregon (35 of 36)
Washington (26 of 39)
California (22 of 58)
Idaho (21 of 44)
North Carolina (9 of 100)
Texas (9 of 254)
Montana (8 of 56)
Illinois (2 of 102)
Nevada (1 of 17)
South Carolina (1 of 46)

Starting a new one with the coloring described in the OP for blue.  Green is driven through and red is airport only:

No specific timeframe for future visits other than relatively specific plans to visit rather than just generally aspirational.

Congrats on the milestone! You're getting into harder and more boring territory all the time (save God's Country in Big Bend).

Indeed. I have 13 new counties in NW IA and SW MN on tap for early next week. If not for some quilt shops that interest my wife it would be hard to just decide to go see them.

My state map hasn't changed recently, but here's where my county map currently stands:

Pink: Lived in
Orange: Traveled to
Yellow: Briefly stopped in
Green: Driven through without stopping
