Let's make Electoral maps of states that you have visited.

1. Color only states that you have lived in at 90%.
2. For a single visit (trip) color a state 30%. Example: I visited Utah, then drove to Montana, and then back to Utah on a single trip. However, this counts as 1 VISIT to Utah since it was on the same trip.
3. For each additional visit, raise the color 10%. For example, I have visited Kansas on 2 entirely separate occasions, so I color it at 40%. Stop at 80%, so that we know which states you have lived in.
4. Layovers count Smiley
5. Post the electoral vote visit count (and comments) after your map.

Here's mine.

Electoral Vote Visit Count: 154

Sadly, I haven't traveled as far or as often as I would like to, but hopefully this will change soon Smiley I might be able to go to New Mexico and Texas next year though.

I have a very limited range of geographic experience. However, of the states I have traveled to regularly (generally at least once a year, though with the way mother's acting, it's been less recently), they'd be very dark and limited to Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. I believe I've been to Ohio but have no memory of going. Outside of that, I've gone to Missouri a couple of times, and to Iowa once.

150 EVs.  I don't nearly get out enough, but I hope to see every state someday. Smiley

Never lived in Virginia, but I have visited much more than 7 times. Illinois, Georgia and North Carolina are due to layovers.

I've only ever lived in Kentucky, but I've been to Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Illinois enough that they add up to 90%.

I decided to make a change, ONLY the states you have lived in should be at 90%, so that we know which states those are. If you've visited a state numerous times, just max out at 80%.

My state map is rather boring since I've been in all but three states and that adds up to 524 EV. However, here's my county map. Red counties have been my places of residence, blue are places I've stayed the night, cyan includes visited destinations, green are places in passing including meal and gas stops, and yellow is airport only.

My states of residence total 149 EVs.

231 Travel Points.

Can anyone guess what caused the belt across the north? Tongue

I'll be adding an extra 10% to Idaho in a few weeks.

That's an amazing map!

You gotta visit the last three some day. Hawaii's a beautiful state (though I'm sure you wouldn't think so politically Tongue).

E: Since it's hard to tell, I've only lived in NJ but travel to Delaware and Pennsylvania frequently.

Hard to tell the difference between 80% and 90% here; I've lived in NJ, PA, and NY.

Kentucky was only a layover (I went through the Cincy airport for two separate trips), and West Virginia was just a drive through on I-81.  If one does not count just passing through, but requires that the state be a destination of the trip, then DE and RI would be less than 80% as well, though how much less I can't recall exactly.

And that's only because we're counting airport layovers. I once visited LAX on my way to Canada, and then San Fransisco on my way back fom Canada, so although they were a few weeks apart, it was part of the one trip. More recent trip to Canada we avoided US customs and immigration by passing through New Zealand.

My parents aren't huge travelers. I am.

MA: Used to live there. My grandparents moved five years after us. Also two really bomb pizza places that are 10 place away from me.
NH: Live here.
VT: Been to my aunt's twice.
PA: I go up here every day because my dad's side is here.
NY: I've been on layover twice, been to Broadway twice, and went here for a trip a few times.
ME: Been white-water rafting up here with the Sawxes a few times, the beach I usually go to is here, and my friend's house.
NJ: I went to Wildwood once.

I've lived in MA, NH, and will be moving to PA next week for college.

>90%- Home states
>60%- Stayed there for at least a few days
>40%- Drive through on a fairly regular basis
>30%- Brief trips

My family went on a vacation to CA but I was too young to remember much of it, so its only pink.

My map looks a lot like Carter's in 1976! I'm at 293 EVs, which is also really close to Carter's 297.

Doing it this way makes it interesting.  Lots of brief, sometimes multiple visits to some states helps things add up.  35 states, 390 EVs.

I'm not counting stopovers because a) that's silly, and b) I fly across the country several times a year and don't necessarily keep track of how often I stop in each airport, so I wouldn't be able to put together a map.

241 votes. I've lived in California and Maryland. I'm not exactly sure how many times I've been to Nevada or the District of Columbia, but I'm guessing it's been at least seven times; I know I've been in Virginia more than seven times. Other than that I haven't ever taken more than two trips to any state.

267. With the exception of brief dips into WV & IN, every one of these has been visited more than once. MS & LA were the only other two that didn't involve actual stays. Way too experienced with the I-75 corridor.

That's 170 EVs.

Utah is only a stopover at Salt Lake City's airport going from... LA to SF... Airline ticket prices' logic. -___-

I only traveled to the US thrice, once on the East Coast in 2004, once on the West in 2008, and once was just a 24 hour roadtrip from Montreal, QC, to New Haven, CT, to meet a friend at Yale last year. (Yes, I seem to visit you only on election years ! Wink) That's why I had NY, CT and MT twice.
