The Nixon tapes are great. He reminds me of myself in many respects; he was quite a haunted person. He was very paranoid as we all know, and stuff like this just reinforces the notion.

Richard Nixon served this country better than anyone especially in the white house.

Not really. He was much too progressive for my tastes. I like Nixon the man because I relate to him in a manner unlike any other President. But Nixon the President was pretty awful.

No surprise, given his comments about San Francisco.

I was regarding his service, not presidency. He was a tremendous politician on the level of FDR and Lyndon Johnson.

I don't recall All in the Family having even one magnificent handsome guy, let alone two, musta been guest stars on an episode.

Gotcha. Yeah, Nixon was quite the politician. No denying that. One of the greats in that regard.

Glorify, no, but it did preach acceptance of gays, which was unheard of on tv in the 1970s. Archie even once gave mouth to mouth to a "high class woman" who turned out to be a drag queen who then was murdered in a later episode. Very daring stuff in its day!

If Richard Nixon's life had happened 30 or so years later than it actually did, you could have a reality show consisting solely of him sitting around his house going off on bizarre, paranoid rants like this one. They could call it "Uncensored Dick" or something.

It's not so different than the stuff today's Republicans say.

So you think the state should engage in political intimidation of its opponents?

This reminds me of that old "which presidents would support gay marriage if they were still alive" poll.

I guess we nix on Nixon.
