I know that its a really long ways away and anything can happen, so, in the tradition of this thread back in 2005-2006, lets see what the results are like for 2024...

here's what I think...

Dems:

Sen Joe Kennedy III D-MA

Gov Tulsi Gabbard D-HI

Gov Gavin Newsom D-CA

Sen Mark Warner D-VA

(possibly) Sen Chelsea Clinton D-WV

Sen Elizabeth Warren D-NY

(Former) Gov Andrew Cuomo D-NY

Gov Martin O'Malley D-MD

Sen Kirsten Gillibrand D-NY

Gov John Hickenlooper D-CO

Sen Cory Booker D-NJ

(also there is the extreme possibility that any of the members of the previous administration to be possible nominees too...)

Reps

Sen (if not Pres or VP already) Marco Rubio R-FL

Gov (if not Pres or VP already) Chris Christie R-NJ

Gov Scott Walker R-WI

Rep or Sen Paul Ryan R-WI

Sen Kelly Ayotte R-NH

Gov or Sen Bobby Jindal R-LA

Sen or Gov Rand Paul R-KY

Gov or Sen Nikki Haley R-SC

(Former) Gov or Sen Sarah Palin R-AK

Rep or Sen Tom Cotton R-AR

Sen or Gov Aaron Schock R-IL

Gov Bob McDonnell R-VA

Sen John Thune R-SD

Gov Brian Sandoval R-NV

Sen Eric Cantor R-VA

None of these people, most likely. Looking at that thread I saw Obama discussed a lot. And Obama will clearly not run in 2016. I saw some mentions of our good friends Mark Sanford and Eliot Spitzer, and a lot of former officeholders that recently went under, like Blanche Lincoln and Ted Strickland. To their credit I did see some mention of Jindal, Santorum, Schweitzer and Clinton but most of the candidates we discuss currently were not known at all in 2005 or 2006. So I say none of the above.

Way too early.

Also,

Gavin Newsome will be 57 in 2024.

Warner will be 70.

Warren will be 75.

Cuomo will be 67.

O'Malley will be 61.

Kirsten Gillibrand will be 58.

Hickenlooper will be 72.

Booker will be 55.

Chris Christie will be 62.

Scott Walker will be 57.

Rand Paul will be 61.

Palin will be 60.

McDonnell will be 70 (and likely in jail).

Thune will be 61.

Cantor will be 59.

Sandoval will be 59 (and he's pro-choice).

Hillary is an icon, and still looks relatively young, and she's healthy, that's why her age won't be that much of an issue in 2016 (though it will be somewhat of an issue). Plus her election would be historically significant. As for these other people, it's very doubtful they'll rise to the same tier as Hillary.

You also have to realize that most of these people will be out of office for about a decade by 2024, they'd be as relevant as Pataki was in 2012.

The 2024 nominees will likely be born in the 1970's or 1980's, and likely aren't elected yet.

Cross off McDonnell and those are all valid candidates. It's way too early though. It would be like picking 2012 candidates in 2000. By 2024, I'll be old enough to run. Can you imagine a president barfbag?

Five years before the 2008 election, Obama was a state senator.

Seven years before the 2000 election, George W Bush owned a sports team in Texas.

Twelve years before the 1992 election, Bill Clinton lost his bid for reelection.

Eight years before the 1976 election, Jimmy Carter was a former State Senator going door to door asking people if they had accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts.

The nominees could be someone that we're all familiar with. Or it could be someone who hasn't even run for major office yet.

I would keep an eye on younger members of the Senate, especially those with political talent and/ or an inspirational backstory.

Also, anyone elected Vice-President in 2016 has a good shot of being a presidential contender.

I can already imagine him throwing up in a bag.... No really that would be interesting though.

If Grassley retires in 2016, and a younger democrat wins the seat, would he be on the radar? It is Iowa after all.

Probably most candidates will be people we haven't heard of, but if forced to pick:

Booker
Castro
Cordray
Crist
Cuomo
Gillibrand
Harris
Kaine
Klobuchar
Newsom
O'Malley

Abbott
Christie
Cruz
Cuccinelli (if he's elected governor)
Haley
Jindal
Martinez
Paul
Pence
Rubio
Ryan
Walker

Keep in mind, many of these are people who might run and win in 2020, and then be running for reelection in 2024.  Or else people who might be elected VP as early as 2016.
