Personally, I find it more disgusting that Quinn was ever leading. This is a Democratic Primary isn't it?

Soon politicians will be having sex scandals to boost flagging poll numbers Tongue

In all seriousness, though, great news. Weiner is among my favorite Democrats.

I didn't expect to see Weiner rising this early, perhaps its just a premature exploding of him in the polls and Weiner's numbers will go limp again soon.

Weiner is an embarrassment to the city, in both policy and demeanor.

He'd basically be our Rob Ford, and must be kept away from Gracie Mansion at all costs.

You don't think that's a really original joke that no one has ever thought of before, Phil?

Agreed. After reading some more about Wiener yesterday, while the affair is probably his biggest problem, it is far from his only one.

Yep, anyone but Quinn honestly, I don't care much for Weiner but I admire, or am at least envious of how successful he has been thus far.

Please let it be a Weiner vs. De Blasio runoff though.

I have mixed thoughts on Weiner. I've seen him speak in congress before, and was impressed, but I greatly dislike his hawkish stance on Israel-Palestine. I dislike Quinn's stance on the MSG issue. I'd prefer that MSG stays put. I don't know Weiner's stance on this, though.

I'm not seeing the full picture, though. What are the major differences between Quinn's and Weiner's stances? Is Weiner perceived as the relatively left-ish candidate in this election and Quinn the moderate, or what?

They're both perceived as being on the Democratic Party's right (as opposed to Thompson and deBlasio, on the left), but in different ways. Quinn is highly associated with the Democrats who aided Bloomberg (she is a very close political ally), whereas Weiner has always been an enemy of Bloomberg; Quinn tends to have "moderate" views on economics, while Weiner's "moderate" views are on foreign policy. Those are the main differences.
