It's comforting that Sbane wants Jeff Junior to suffer in the OK heat when there is a cool home 5 feet away.

It has nothing to do with what I want. If I had a dog, I would keep it inside because keeping it outside would defeat the purpose. But it is extremely hilarious to hear that a dog is going to die because it's 85 degrees outside. Talk about sheltered....

No one said OMGZ 85 WILL KILL HIM.  The OK forecast of 95-104 will. Sub-freezing will. Plus you are more responsible than Bushie, though this is the first time I've had my doubts.

He's defending me, so you are now attacking him and questioning his judgments?  Classy move.  You seem to gloss over that he comes inside anything in the 90's.  We'll talk about the winter when we get closer.

So when someone defends you, we're automatically supposed to assume that they're right and we're not allowed to question their position? Mmkay.

I hate to say this but I'm seriously starting to think about abandoning The Update. It' not fun anymore and the whole dog thing is just making me angry.

They're not necessarily right, but they're not necessarily wrong, either.  Perhaps I don't look hard enough, but I have NEVER seen an instance where someone defends me and the forum relented and realized they and me were right.  Not once.  This forum seems to think that Bushie is ALWAYS wrong.  I know I am right some of the time.

I've defended you more than a few times myself. For instance, I certainly never saw anything wrong with you making the most of your Indian health coverage.

You are in the wrong an awful lot though. I think you should seriously think over this whole dog ownership thing, especially if you're at all serious about moving to Kenya in a couple of years.

I know you have defended me, Eraser and I thank you.  I agree I'm wrong an awful lot, but I'm also right almost as much, but I guess that's a matter of opinion.  One more thing about the dog ownership.  Mom and Dad are staying here, I will be going to Kenya alone, so the dog will stay with them.

If we let this thread kind of quiet down just a bit, not only would it be healthier for everybody, but at the rate we're going, Season 9 is only about a week away.

Let's rewind about a month, we didn't choose her (as in we didn't go to the pet store or someone selling/giving away puppies).  She chose us and we adopted her into our family.

Stop it. You could have easily given it up for adoption. The dog didn't "chose" anything. There's no special reason why this lost dog showed up to your trailer.

Of course it isn't. Let's test it.

One other thing - I'm happy that he's lost some weight if that's actually true. I remain highly skeptical though.

Like Grumps, I looked at the Kenya pictures. I'm not trying to be mean but he really does look bigger than ever. It's legitimately alarming. I really hope he figures out a way to get the help he needs on that front before it's too late.

Anyone remember "The Sopranos" episode where Dr. Melfi discovers that talk therapy may only advance sociopathic tendencies? I think The Update is our version of that.

Also, when is the last time you were proven to be objectively correct on something?

I know you have this SERIOUSLY misplaced sense of your importance (which I acknowledge I'm feeding) but Sbane agreeing with you doesn't mean he's correct either and the position on JJ's care (btw I'm still alarmed you're using 'he' when you know it's a girl) is not being criticised because its you doing it. I agree that exposure to 85F won't kill her, as long as she has access to lots of clean water and shelter from the sun, but considering some of the choices made by you or your parents for you, the ability to care properly for this poor little thing is being questioned.

Oh and in relation to your weight, I have two words "towel rack"

And Eraser, I am starting to feel the same way.

Does that mean you'll abandon Atlas altogether?  IIRC, you recently said that this was the only thing keeping you here.

I wouldn't leave Atlas altogether, but most of my posts are in The Update these days.

I just think Bushie is a repulsive person all around at this point, which is bad because I used to defend him quite a bit. The fact that he wraps himself in the Bible to shield himself from his faults is really icing on the cake.

As has been mentioned, pictures add about 15-20 pounds.  Plus, you were looking at me straight on, not from the side which makes a difference.  The scale shows 260.2 this morning which is a far cry from 275.0.

The forum doesn't get to decide whether I'm correct or not.  They are not the defining judge.

I don't think of myself any more important than the next person.  At the same time, I'm no less important than the next person.

Dogs can stay outside in temperatures as hot as 90, really, without really suffering, especially if there's a breeze which is often the case in Oklahoma.  What I'm getting a chuckle out is still nobody has acknowledged, lately, the fact that I bring her in in the hottest weather.  They keep saying she'll die in 95-104 weather.  I agree it will definitely be uncomfortable, which is why I'm bringing her in at everything from the low 90's up.  The last time I checked 95 was higher than the low 90's, and I'm not bad at math, either!  Yes, I don't see anybody mentioning that because it actually makes Bushie look correct, which cannot happen.

It's your call how you feel, but I don't know what I've done to make myself look like a repulsive person.  I don't treat a dog the same way you do, but who is to say you are the absolute authority on how to treat a dog.  Dogs are a lot more resourceful than you give them credit for.  Sbane is correct that if they have adequate shade and a constant fresh supply of food and water, they'll be fine in pretty hot conditions.  Humans and dogs have coexisted long before the invention of the air conditioner and haven't suffered.  I'm bringing her in, because she'll be uncomfortable.  I seriously doubt she would die even in 100 degree weather.  She's not as weak as most American humans are.

I find you repulsive because nearly all the things you do, you do to glorify yourself. The african kids, the dog, etc, are all about you. You sin over and over, scam people, lie, steal and mistreat yourself and others to make yourself feel better, yet you think it's all okay because you pray to god for forgiveness and you think he will forgive.

You have African orphans call you daddy, because your grandma sends them money every month, knowing full and well you will never adopt them, which will only lead to the kids growing up confused and ultimately hurt. You steal money from your parents all the time for frivolous things like porn, trips out to eat, hotel stays, etc.

You refuse to work while living the comfortable lifestyle you wish to have off the backs of your parents, because working seems to be beneath you. You have your poor father do everything while you nap all afternoon every day and seem to be unashamed of it. In addition to that, you are morbidly obese, yet you go to McDonalds nearly every day (that seems to be the only thing you can do on your own), and refuse, despite all the technology at your fingertips, to educate yourself on proper diet that would benefit you and your sick mother, because, well, it wouldn't be about you anymore, and that's not about to happen.

A dog was abandoned on your property, and instead of trying to find it a home, you keep it because you want a dog to call you daddy, knowing full and well you intend to leave it behind in a year, like you left your cat before it, not considering the feelings of these animals that do become attached to their human owners. They love us like we love them. Not only that, the dog lives outdoors in the Oklahoma heat and you only go out to see it once in a while. Oh, and it took you weeks to figure out what sex it was. Sorry, I also don't care about what dogs and humans did in the old days. This isn't the stone ages.

Finally, you claim to be a Christian and a follower of Jesus, yet you only follow the parts of the Bible that suit you while ignoring all the other parts you don't agree with, like treating your body well, working honestly, loving your neighbors, etc. But you think it's all okay because you will be forgiven despite the fact you embody nearly all of the seven deadly sins.

The honest truth is, I have never come across a bigger hypocrite than you, Bushie, and I hate to say that because I used to think you had your heart in the right place. I used to want to see you succeed, but it's difficult to want that anymore because you yourself have no interest in succeeding. You only wish to glorify yourself in your own mind and stroke that sense of importance that we can all feel in your words.

I don't mean to come across as harsh, but that is the honest truth. You've become a monster, and I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, and I don't like feeling this way either.

Does anyone understand why he even wants a dog when he's supposedly going to be moving to Kenya in a couple of years? Does he not understand that owning a dog is like a 13 year commitment (give or take a few years)?

Does anyone else find it slightly disturbing that the Bushie clan now has female dog that they've named Jeff Junior? Do Bushie's parents see him as a pet or something? Freud would have had a field day with this family.
Freud was a crackpot.

Duke, thank you for being honest and candid.  I know it does come across sometimes that I am proud and arrogant, and, yes, I do struggle with that, I've struggled with that for years long before I joined the forum.  I am getting better, or at least, I think I am.  What I do know is God is working on me with regards to my pride.  I do assure you, though, that I am not my own goal, if you know what I mean.  My goal is all about knowing God and making Him known.  As far as the kids.  I call myself their father, not from some arrogant position, but from a position of love.  Maisha calls me their father and they my son and daughter.  As far as the adoption, I know what the German couple told me as well as what Maisha has said.  I keep that in the back of my mind.  Granted, it is a major long shot at this point considering their ages and my status right now, but the desire to adopt is not based on arrogance, it is based on wanting the best  life for them.  I don't refuse to work.  I have never said that, and I'm sorry if I've alluded to that.  Last night, I've put in two applications to work part time at a retailer in Midwest City.  I don't make Dad do everything, but it's more economical with gas if he gets things at lunch.  When I go into town, which is quite often, I will get things for him.  I will usually go down and get supper.  We don't eat like we should, but still you can't argue with losing 15 pounds.  If I sound arrogant, I'm sorry, but I'm trying the best I can to deal with that.  Anyway, I've got to go to my Dietitian appointment, so I will chat later on this afternoon.

Being concerned that Bushie might not give her water when it's 95 outside is a valid concern. Thinking that keeping a dog outside with shade and plenty of water is animal abuse  is going too far.

It may not roll over and die but it would ycertainly suffer if it were left outside day after day in temperatures like that or higher. This isn't really debatable.

What about people who pick fruits in 100 degree weather everyday?

Off on a different subject completely for the moment -

I'll be leaving in about 2 hours for Wednesday Night Bible Study - the final such event at Woods Baptist Church.  Tonight is "Christmas in July".  The passage tonight will cover Luke 2.  I'm going to start with the more traditional Christmas story - Luke 2:1-20.  If I have time, I will go into the less talked about continuation of the Christmas Story vv 21-40 with Simeon and Anna and if I still have time, I'm going to talk about Jesus' pre-teen years - vv 41-52.  Before I start teaching, we will sing some Christmas Carols!  It's going to be a fun night. The dietitian appointment went well.  She is pleased with my progress.  I have lost 15 pounds according to her scale, as well.  I am doing well keeping my calories under 2,000 most days.  I need to incorporate more fiber in my diet (fruits, veggies, and whole grain).  I need to increase my water intake and she recommends drinking a glass before each meal to suppress the appetite a bit.  I also need to walk 4 days a week for 20 minutes each time.  Overall, she is very pleased.  These are all things we have discussed at length here.

What about them? What is their relevance to BushOklahoma? If Jeff had people picking fruit in his yard in 100 degree weather, I would say he should bring them inside. He doesn't. He has a dog that is outside by itself all day in that kind of weather though.
