The sponsor has 24 hours to begin advocating for the bill.

I'm opposed to favoring one sport over another one.

Also, our elections are days-long and 24 hours on 24, so, it's a bit useless.

I support more holidays, but those are a pretty bad choice.

Okay, I'm inclined to accept that Atlasia doesn't actually have elections every month, and that our one scheduled election day will be made a holiday (like it should be in the US). And if you oppose making the Monday following the Super  Bowl a holiday, your simply anti-Atlasian.

Nappy don't forget about your other bill that you need to post about.

A motion to table has been filed bt Senator Nix and seconded by Senator Snowstalker, a vote is thus open on the motion to table the bill. Senators please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain. This is a 48 hour vote and will require two thirds of those voting to vote in the affirmative to pass the motion.

Oh, bah humbug! Wink

Well, even if you don't watch the game, are not a football junkie, and are not up too late watching the post-game stuff with all the celebrities filing out (remember Cameron Diaz feeding Alex Rodriguez popcorn? - the SB red carpet is as big as the Oscars' red carpet), then, by God, you still get that Monday off! And we're talking about the Super Bowl, which has become Atlasia's national feast day.

On a serious note, I'd have to check, but I think I read at one point that SB Monday is the day when something like an extra 1-2 million people take off work.

Votes are three-days long, over the weekend. It's more than enough.
As, you think than people are only drinking on Super Bowl? It's nonsense and you know it.

I support more holidays, but not those ones.

NAY

Second descive nay vote (4th one on a 2/3rds vote) tonight.

If you wanted to kill this, you should have jsut waited for a final vote, then you only need six nays instead of seven Ayes. Tongue I lean towards nay on the final vote.

"A 2008 survey commissioned by Kronos found that 4.4 million people  show up late to work the day after the Super Bowl, and 1.5 million call in sick."

"But even if you made it into work, don’t start patting yourself on the back yet. Challenger said people who are physically in the office but checked-out mentally are a bigger drain on offices."

"The result of all that revelry, from a workplace perspective, is an alleged productivity loss -- $170 million in "unproductive wages," paid to people who are yakking about the game, collecting on their office betting pools and re-watching the funniest television ads on YouTube."

So? If business are thinking than Super Bowl is harmful to the productivity, they just have to lobby NFL to change the date from the event from Sunday night to Saturday night.

If we name a sport in a law, all other professional leagues will complain and will want an holiday for them, too. At worst, I would accept the the Monday following the first Sunday of Februay being a holiday, but it would need a name and to commemorate something.

Anyways, February doesn't have an holiday, I think, so, it would be a welcome addition.

Depending on Napoleon's answer, I may present an amendment.

Well, I'll already put the first amendment, which was already discussed.

As the voting is done online during three days, an holiday is really not needed. If someone can't bother to log on the Internet during three days to vote, giving him an holiday won't make him vote more.
