It's pretty simple:

10 freedom states
10 kinda freedom states
10 myeh... states
10 kinda horrible states
10 of the "bad places"

Red > Pink > Gray > Tan > Yellow

Nebraska should be tan, but the EV calc. didn't give me that option for some reason.

Light red States are meh
Light blue States are horrible
Dark blue States are hell

That's an incredible coincidence, Antonio.  I'd play the lottery.

I believe I've already done this, but I guess I'll do it again. Same map as before, I'm pretty sure. Y'know what, I'll include "moderate" states that have some qualities I like. So yeah, gonna be a different map now. Colors are based on the 2004 election, when red did mean Real America.

Red - Real America
Green - Places that could be Real America
Blue - The People's Republic of Fake America

Like the OP, I stuck with five groups of ten states. Not surprisingly, my order from top to bottom:

Dark Red
Light Red
Grey
Light Blue
Dark Blue

Just a general balance that tips toward it going into the People's Republic rather than America. Sure, every state has redeeming qualities, entertaining posters being one and some honest and nice folk being another. However, we start looking at redeeming qualities of one state, might as well put every state except Vermont in "Real America".

Since Michigan is evil, it has to do with right-to-work, methinks.

Not evil, merely under the iron heel of plutocracy. And a cookie for you, Cathcon!

I've done this before, but I'll do it again:

Freedom States
Horrible States
Average States

Darker shades are stronger toward one side or the other.  Some of these are hard to gauge, since they're kind of a mixed bag.

Awwwww...I was hoping you'd knock us down to a Horrible State because of Al Franken.
